When I was an highschooler I was very active in the fandom...
Now,wait. Not really active...but I followed fandom greatly.I read tons of fanfiction,I even wrote them (but never published because I'm shy and I have a low self-esteem),I knew everything about my passion (from Sailor Moon to Saiyuki),collected every

I must agree with you. Here, in Brazil, this kind of way exists and it's not only about Yaoi. It's about Anime/Manga too.
Cos of Naruto in my opinion, it's the worst anime created ¬¬ many fans started liking anime and manga.
When I go to the newsstand, I NEVER FIND my favorite mangas on account of these dumb people because Naruto is anime and I wanna buy EVERYTHING that it's related. And I MUST ask for my friend who works there to hide some of them to me.
WTF... it's TOO PANTS! The guy/girl wanna be cool cos anime is fashion now. I DISLIKE THIS A LOT!
And about Yaoi, here is not fashion yet on account of Prejudice. I prefer this, at least I can buy my stuffs in peace.
It's real but we must live with this. :(
*sorry my bad English*

I used to like Naruto when it was not so popular as it is now...but even here in Italy naruto is everywhere. And the manga just is too long.I think the author just lost ideas and it's continuing just to make fans see what they want. That's a shame.
I agree.Anime and manga is starting to become fashion and that's not good.I started when everyone said "japanese comics? Are you reading pornography?"(it's a common prejudice here) and I was proud to explain that manga is not just pornography. Now the prejudice it's always there but is starting to fade.that's not bad.
What's really bad is young girls/guys buying mangas and acting like they know everything about it,when it's not true. That just make me terribly angry. >_<
(By the way, your english is fine ^_^)

Guys, girls and naughty CHILDREN like anime and manga as well. I must admit I started liking anime since 2000 and Yaoi, 2004. In 2000 I was 11 and 2004, 15 but anime was "thing of child" and the people avoided the major.

Here in Italy too anime is just "thing for little children".It seems a very common prejudice outside Japan. >_

Like you said fandom seems like an obsession more than a pleasure lately...
And believe me I have seen a lot of crazy things...
Because they tent to go overboard, and end up hurting people just because they are stupid... Like in the D-BOYS fandom ~___~
I use to LoVe that Fandom, I still like the boys, though I don't talk much about them... [I fear for my life DX]Regarding Anime, well I'm pretty disconnected, since In Mexico we don't get much of it unless, you have paid programming, and the channels aren't that good either... [I have Animax, and I just like 3 series :X ( ... )

For the plot problem,it's also in het mangas. In Italy one of the two biggest manga editors is starting publishing very simple shoujo mangas, that in the end are all very similar and with the same plot (ALWAYS a love triangle). You read one and you read everyone else.the main target of these stories are teens, but for an old otaku like me,they are just boring.
For the anime part, here in Italy the censorship ruins many products. They buy animes that are for teens and adapt them to make them see to kids, with terrible results:chaotic plot, senseless dubbing and black and white scenes just because there is a drop of blood.
MTV started airing more mature animes without great censorship, but the titles aren't very appealing in these days.
In the end, youtube and downloading are the only way to see a good not censored anime.

*sighs* I know what you mean, editors just look out for the profit of thing, believe me, I know some... *rolls eyes* and they are dense and narrow mind too...*sighs*
Yes in manga it's almost all the same :(
Censorship ruins everything, not just anime. >|
You know, that's what I don't get... Why in some countries everyone think that anime or cartoons are for kids and the same goes for video games *sighs*
The we only have the net... Sad but true...

Here in Italy many people hate one of the two biggest editor companies because of the terrible editing of the mangas. And also the translation is sometime really bad.
Sometimes I think I'm a better editor than those who make it for work. =_=
