The Top 25 Songs on My iPod: OCTOBER 2010

Nov 02, 2010 23:51

I totally skipped doing a list for September because I barely listened to any music at all during that month. Most of the background noise was provided by movies on Netflix rather than my ipod. XD  However during October while working on my doujinshi project (please buy some doujinshi) I used music to keep my sanity. Most of the stuff on the list ( Read more... )

DUDE!! I'VE BEEN LISTENING TO IT ALL WEEK!! 8D
I'm kinda sad because my decision at Blockbuster all those years ago made me miss out on this AMAZING soundtrack for so long. (The same happened with Edward Scissorhands which is one of my favorite soundtracks ever!)

What else has Yann Tiersen worked on? Do you have any album recommendations? I want MOOOORRREEEEE~

(Your dick-butt icon makes me lol forever and ever! I love it every time it's used!)

I liked the ending instrumental theme for Unwound Future actually :D Vocal songs tend to be less tragic to me, whereas instrumental versions (or anything lyric-less, really) always make me cry. I think it's because when there are no words, I'm free to imagine anything, whereas when vocals are present, I focus too much on them and lose the feeling behind the music. Like the vocal-less music box theme (Iris? I can't remember) ending for Diabolical Box always, always, ALWAYS makes me cry... but the vocal version doesn't. They're both beautiful, but lyrics always diminish emotion for me for some reason.

I'm not opposed to it being lyric-less. I wasn't expecting them to keep the original vocals or to dub it at all I just wasn't expecting them to use a saxaphone as the instrument that carries the melody. Saxophones makes me think of classy bars or lounges which is not exactly what I wanted to be imagining at that particular moment. I suppose using a tuba would've been far worse... I understand they couldn't use the piano or acoustic guitar since those were already in the accompaniment and some strings do come in later which are lovely. But I think a flute would have been a better choice than the saxophone.

The lyrics to the song were actually rather optimistic about "the beginning of a new era" and "sailing on large ships" and the flow of time in general but I normally don't pay any attention to the lyrics to songs anyway. What I look for is the emotion in the words. The lyrics could've been about constipation and I still would've cried.
