a lot of people drink during midterms and finals because it helps with the understanding that it will never make sense, so its not as depressing

Actually, if I get wasted before I write a paper, it would contain less bullshit than a paper I write while sober. When I'm sober, it generally takes me only two pages for me to say what I have to say, and I bullshit the rest.
