This is a hope. I had to write it down somewhere. Maybe then I can ignore it until April 4th.

I think it majorly, thoroughly sucks that UK seasons are only 13 episodes long (or like in the case of Life on Mars, 8 wtf). Wouldn't it be awesome to have seasons that last 20, 22 episodes like in the US? And then only a four month wait rather than a twelve month wait?

GRRRR.

That said, wasn't Fragments a wonderful episode? TW is such an uneven show, it has the bland, the bad and the downright stupid, but everyonce in a while there is general awesomeness that makes you go "Aha! That's why I still watch that show."

That's how I felt last week. Actual character building, back story, set designs and a minimum of plot holes? Awesome! It felt like a good Buffy episode.

Now to your actual post ;-)

Only, I can't see that Ianto was upset at the end because he was feeling that he'd betrayed Lisa by fancying Jack. Where did it ever show that he fancied Jack? He's just recognised that there's only one thing he can offer Jack that he wants - and he's so desperate to save Lisa that he'll do anything.I agree that Ianto wouldn't have felt ( ... )

I agree that Ianto wouldn't have felt like he was betraying Lisa, after all, it's not like he did anything with Jack. I think Ianto did feel attracted to Jack in that scene and that he was quite taken back by that fact.

Maybe I worded what I said badly? I *don't* think there was anything to show that Ianto fancied Jack there. And I *do* think Ianto felt he was betraying, or would have to betray, his love for Lisa. My reading of the scene was that he wasn't taken aback by realising he fancied his boss-to-be and felt bad about betraying Lisa that way, but that he was distressed because he realised he might *have* to betray her by getting physical with Jack in order to cover his tracks.

He was, as far as I can see, only being taken on in the end because Jack fancied *him.*

It would be interesting to see how far his whoring out actually went - if he felt he had to sleep with Jack to keep him distracted. The odd thing is that at some point he must have started to enjoy it or else he wouldn't keep doing it now.
I do love the potential ( ... )

Ah okay. I must say, I do read that Ianto is attracted when he lies on top of Jack, but it's the would-be-prostitution that freaks him.

...And more than that, I guess I want some real substance to Ianto. Fragments gave me what felt like some real character for him (I know my views on him seem to collide with a great deal of TW fandom, but I've been watching it too, and I just haven't got that much as far as he's concerned), and I'd like to see more of itFandom's very open to personal interpretation and not everyone feels the same way about everything (thank goodness). I have heard from many people that season two has changed their opinions of characters. I know I like them all a lot more this season (Except for maybe Tosh who really hasn't gotten the best ( ... )

So how are you now? Have you recovered from Friday yet?

Recovered? Well.... *sighs* The acting (BG and NM) was *wonderful*, I really liked Cap'n John (again), Gwen was utterly fantastic, Gray looked enough like Jack to actually pass for a family member (which makes a nice change in casting!), Ianto was.... mainly absent, so far as I could see (but with all the Jack, Gwen, John, Tosh and Owen (sobs - Owen! Noooo!) that's not really surprising), but I was surprised by my lack of reaction to what happened to Jack. I *care* about Jack (yeah, I know, but I've known him for ages now, and, well, you know... ;) ) and yet seeing him buried alive... A bit like FootR, it just missed somehow. :(

Generally, I'm lacking squee. It was okay, it was good in places and great in others, but as a last part after the potential laid out in Fragments, it just didn't work as well as it could have - I wanted more *plot* dammit!

(Did you watch DW? It was fun :) And I'm basing my next round of pointless speculation on a line of the Doctor's very near the end! ;) )

I sort of liked it. The deaths of Owen and Tosh were really well done, as you say, awesome acting. And I must say I love that Gwen and Ianto and Jack are alive and together at the end. (And Rhys didn't die, yay ( ... )
