Hel is settled in "her" chair, sewing on a pair of dark blue gloves. She's at the embroidery portion of these as well. The different colored flosses have been separated out, and now and then she asks Svava to separate out a specific strand for her. Its easier that way than if she does it for herself ( Read more... )

".... And another realm of being skinned alive." Svava eyes the book.

"That's been quite a common theme for punishment in these sorts of places." 'Hells', but its off to think of them being named after Hel.

She raises a brow, thinking.

"Yes." Svava nods, starting to flip a few pages.

"Its pretty accurate, considering how much other stories haven't been. Everything is correct, but without going into little details that... probably shouldn't be spread."

That gets a grim smile, and she doesn't ask how she's described.

Probably wise of her.

Svava just barely skimmed over it herself. Again... probably good to not know.

"So many different sorts of places. And- this is just one world."

"Why does it interest you?"

She knows why she cares...

"Some of the people here are dead. I've helped greet people as they come here, often they say 'this is not where I was expecting to be', and so... I wished to learn where those places where, and what they were like."

"... And most of them seem better than what we had."

She nods, and finally her hands still,

"We don't have a good world."

"Parts of it were good. Not all of the Nine Worlds had... issues. We were just unfortunate, and lived in the ones that did. Midgard-"

"Midgard had its own troubles, but... it may have been the best." Quietly.

She just looks at Svava for a long moment, then shrugs,

"If you say so."

"There were. I saw parts of them, on occasion, and others-"

She bites her lip.

"I know others. I would know others. The sea, for one."

A shrug. Hel's time, the places on the world tree that she saw, it was all terrible. Even a more-or-less good childhood was etched in horror when it led to where it did.

"Mortals, and free will. Maybe that's why." Softly, as she thinks.

"... There are still better places elsewhere. I wonder."

"Elsewhere, yes. No place that I will ever see."

Resigned, but bitter about it, is Hel.

"We should talk of something else, I think."

A sigh, but Svava agrees. She sips her hot chocolate, and then flips through the pages again.

"... Have you heard people mention shape ships or flying ships, here?"

Svava gets stared at. For a long time.

"No."

Her lips twitch faintly. "Ships, that fly out among the stars, to other worlds. Or just fly lower, but still fly. Some people here know of them, have them in their time and their world."
