[OOM: Why friendly visits should be outlawed in Ambergeldar, and why does everyone insist on calling him Algernon?]

Someone comes in through the front door, whistling cheerfully.

"Lavender's blue," the tune goes,

"Rosemary's green,
When I am King,
You shall be--hullo," says the nice young man who had been whistling, to no one in particular, ( Read more... )

Amy has been just the tiniest bit homesick of late, perhaps because Anne went home, perhaps because it's almost Christmas. Either way, home has felt very far away lately. And so the last thing she's expecting to hear is the song her ladies-in-waiting used to use for her lullabye.

She looks up, of course, and sees a nice-looking young man who actually appears to be from someplace she knows. She doesn't think she knows him, but the clothes (and the song) seem right for Phantasmorania or Ambergeldar. Or somewhere else nearby.

And so she gives him a genuine, dazzling, brilliant smile that wrinkles her turned up little nose, and says, "Hello. Welcome to Milliways."

The nice-looking young man turns to her with a rather nice smile of his own. It crinkles the corners of his eyes quitecharmingly.

"Hello," he says. "Where?"

It's a very nice smile.

"Milliways," she repeats. "It's the bar at the end of the universe."

"Oh," he says, "I see."

He turns to look back at the door, curiously.

"..and I've managed to get here from Amber? How very strange. I wonder how on earth I managed that."

A very pretty girl seated at a table fairly close to the door looks at him thoughfully, then approaches with a sympathetic smile.

"Hello there. If I'm not terribly mistaken you look every bit as befuddled as I did when I first arrived. Don't worry. You really will get used to it. And we are quite friendly people."

Her eyes sparkle as she smiles brightly at him and sticks out a hand, "Philippa Gordon."

He smiles back at her. It's a nice smile, that crinkles the corners of his eyes, while he shakes her hand cordially.

"Nice to meet you," he says. "Please call me Peregrine."

It's the only one of eight names that he really likes.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Peregrine," she says with a grin. "My friends call me Phil, so you must as well."

Contagiously cheerful? Phil? No....

"Would you like some tea, Peregrine? I was just having some myself. It tends to help with the befuddlement just a bit."

And goodness, but he's cute. Too bad he's Amy's clearly not rich.

"Thank you," he says, and seats himself at the table without further preamble, smiling his nice young smile at her cheerfully.

"Tea would be nice, thanks. I say, do you know where it is, exactly, that we are?"
