Back by the lake, near a copse of trees, there is a ripple in the Force. Well, perhaps a bit more than a ripple. Qui-Gon is practicing forms while meditating. It's not as strange as it seems. His 'sabre flashes with its characteristic green light as he moves through various positions, defensive maneuvers, and forms. He's definitely disturbable, ( Read more... )

Of course Jedi can't practice all the time. That's what tinkering with mechanics is for!

Anakin wanders outside, drawn by the Force ripple, fiddling with a small metallic ball covered in transparent panels.

"Having fun?"

"Yes." He looks oddly and shyly pleased. "I can't wait for them to be born."

Qui-Gon smiles. "When are they to be born?" There's still something nagging at the back of his mind, but he shushes it quite well. "You seem quite excited about it."

Anakin thinks, trying to calculate months and days. "Five months from now? Something like that."

He looks and feels to be a combination of regretful and hopeful. "I missed my chance the first time, so..."

"That will be quite a joyous time for everyone." Another smile. He pauses for a long moment, then nods, a serious look in his eyes. "It would seem that this bar is a place of second chances. Many here are given chances to do things that they were not able to before."

"Yes. I'm grateful." He looks up at the stars. "I missed you all."

Qui-Gon falls silent, reminded of a conversation one night long ago with a small boy on a desert planet far, far away. A small smile crosses his face, lost for the moment in memory.

"No matter where you go, the stars are always beautiful."

"This is quite true. Many nights, I have remained outside to watch the stars." He pauses for a short moment. "I almost feel a stronger connection with the Force when I am outside underneath the stars."

"They do do that. It's because they remind you how vast the Universe is, I think, and how you are but a small part of the Force.

"Also, they're quiet."

"True. It does remind one of how small one is in relation to the entire vast universe." There is a long moment, where he looks a bit confused. "I am not certain what you mean by quiet, Anakin."

"There presence in the Force is simple, peaceful, quiet. Not like people or events. Those are loud and chaotic. They demand attention. It's almost deafening some times."

There is a long moment before Qui-Gon speaks, and when he does, it is gentle, almost surprised. "I have never thought of it that way before, Anakin. You are most certainly right. Perhaps that is why one can feel the Force stronger among the stars than in the middle of other sorts of chaos."

"It's not feel so much as be at peace with. I can always feel the Force, I just can't always *concentrate* on it."

A slight smile. "And Obi-Wan always wondered why I hated meditation so much."

"There is much to be said, Anakin, about meditation while doing something. Many times, I find myself distracted while sitting and meditating. Different Jedi find the Force differently. This is why we all have our own styles." He smiles gently.

Anakin raises an eyebrow. "Sometimes I wondered. Obi-Wan wasn't really one for experiments."
