*Adam eyes the paper and glances over at the man by the piano. Odd looking fellow, Peter. A bit... well, he seems interesting at the least, and Adam doesn't have to work again until Saturday next, so he wanders over*
"Oh yes? Splendid -- I've noticed several rather large trees behind the bar which should provide an excellent view of the lake and its surroundings. I'm Lord Peter, by the by; I don't believe we've met."
He peers at Adam as he holds out his hand. "You are human? Forgive the asking, but one never knows at Milliways."
[ooc: Zedd has been wanting to learn of Milliways for a while, and he has a good amount of magical knowledge and is supposed to be rather intelligent (whether or not I get that across is beyond me). If you think he could help let me know either here or on aim (first wizard zor)]
"Hallo! I'm investigatin' Milliways. Quite not enough known about the place, you know."
Peter opens his notebook to display notes about the Landlord, rough sketches of the back of Milliways, and a list of several things to investigate.
"Going to try to make a Great Escape and all. Been Bound for long enough. It's time I broke out of the joint, don't you know. I'm Peter by the way, Lord Peter Wimsey. And yourself?"
Gil eyes him with concern. To his mind expeditions are bad news. All the same they'll be needing a snack if it goes on for long.
"I can provide some nutritious provisions for your expedition, sir," he suggests. "And, I hope you don't mind me asking, but you seem a little flushed. Are you feeling all right?"
"Tip top, old man, only a little sore -- they tell a bloke it's good to sleep on hard surfaces, but I'm not sure I entirely agree. I'd appreciate food, but I'm afraid I can't pay -- spent the last of my tips on supplies of a less edible nature."
"But Lord Peter," Gil looks confused, "why are you sleeping on a hard surface? The rooms are very comfortable. And food," he waves a dismissive hand, "shall we say that you are one of my beta-eaters? Free meals in exchange for testing the occasional peculiar recipe."
Peter laughs. "Food taster? I'd be delighted, Whimple, that's very kind of you. Unfortunately the Bar won't let me up the stairs to the beds, and it was either sleep sitting up or bivouac outside, where the turf is, as the jockeys say, springy."
A shrug. "It doesn't impose, and I don't mind, really; clearly there are plans for me I wot not of. I wouldn't mind a few sandwiches, though."
Peter sighs. "Can't swing a cat..." he mutters, under his breath, before smiling and taking her hand.
"The pleasure is mine. Do you happen to know anything about astronomy? I need to take some measurements of the sun and possibly the moon, a bit later. Wizards're supposed to know things like that, aren't they?"

She heads for the piano and smiles at the man leaning on it. "Lord Peter Wimsey? Do you still need people for your expedition?"
Reply
"Indeed I am, and I do. Are you any good at notes-taking? Or perhaps mathematics?"
