Ooh, anything I like...Now that's a dangerous thing to say to me...Truth to tell, I'm in a rather a flippant mood at the moment and this suits me well. For Zeus' sake, don't be offended, 'tis only in good fun!
Right now you are down and out and feeling really crappy
( ... )
*cracks up, laughing until her sides ache* Oh Tere, that was fabulous. I've had days where Schadenfreude was my only source of happiness, so I heartily approve of your choice.
*Liz nods, sipping from the cup of tea she has brought over with her.*
I am well, I thank you.
I merely found your words regarding Lord Morpheus interesting as if such description of him is true, he must have been terribly ired to behave thus. He is not the sort to display such reaction unless threatened or provoked.
Indeed, I believe he was. He was provoked, I think by his sibling, Desire, 's interference with Death and Constantine, and perhaps he was suspicious that my interest in him was similarly motivated. However, he was abominably rude, threatened to kill me, and damn near did. I offered friendship and had it soundly smacked in my face.
That is most intriguing, as I have never heard Lord Morpheus mention such concern regarding his Sibling as you describe. Indeed, I believe him to be pleased for his sister and her suitor.
*She takes another sip and continues mildly.*
Nor can I recall any such threats or misconceptions on his part regarding my own friendship with him. Your case appears to be most singular.
Perhaps it is possible that you believed there to be more of a connection betwixt you than truly existed. I believe that should surely make the Lord Morpheus anxious, as truly it would anyone. It is generally deemed most unpleasant to have an acquaintance advanced more quickly than is comfortable. And, as Lord Morpheus is certainly a very private gentleman, that would prove especially true for him.
*She pauses for a moment to ponder.*
It is most curious, indeed. Lord Morpheus has certainly not considered the topic enough to raise it in subsequent conversations. But then, he is enough of a gentleman that he might feel it necessary, whether he be angered or not, to avoid any action which might impugn your good name.
Perhaps it is so, though he had no difficulty impugning my good name Though good is questionable at the top of his lungs at the time. As to advancing the relationship too quickly, all I offered was simple friendship and support if needed, the same as I would offer without thought to anyone who walked into this place. I would hold malice toward none, Miss Elizabeth, and friendship with neither condition nor question to all.
Yes, I can say that does not seem wholly out of character for Lord Morpheus, as he does possess a sharp temper. However, I can also state from experience that it takes very much indeed to induce him to that point of expression. He is quite good about making displeasure known before such action becomes necessary. Perhaps your ladyship merely chose to ignore the signs?
My Lady Tere, there are times when even the mere hint of an offer of simple friendship and support may prove too rapid an advancement. One cannot force another into a relationship that is not desired by both, however fiercely one party may wish it so. To persist in such efforts is to prove a nuisance and alienate those who are sought. No one can desire a flea upon their ankle.

*She laughs...musically, of course*

Will you sing something for me, Tere? Anything you like.

Pardon, Lady, but I could not help overhearing your remarks concerning Lord Morpheus, and I found them curious.
*She nods and smiles at Tonks.*
Good evening, Tonks. It is lovely to see you again.
