He looks tired. He looks older than he should. He looks like he just walked away from a massacre.
Doctor Leonard H. McCoy walks through the front door, decidedly preoocupied. He doesn't seem to realize he's not in his office as he moves slowly, a surgical cap dangling from one hand, the other wearily attempting to unfasten the ties of his bloody

He's not the first bloodied man Esk has run into today.

"Bar seems to want to bring in a lot of doctors in today. Is everything OK?"

McCoy is a long time in coming back to reality.
"Chapel, I thought I said..." he starts, angrily, when he abruptly realizes that this is not Nurse Chapel, and he most certainly isn't in his office.
"Damn." He swears, low and vicious. What he really wants is to collapse somewhere, or beat a wall down. He would really rather not be sociable. However, the southern-gentleman manners beaten into him at a young age refuse to relent.
"Beg your pardon ma'am." He offers her a weary, utterly fake smile. "It's been a long day."

"I can tell," she says, smiling. "Can I get you a drink, something to eat, point to towards a washroom or do something about your tiredness?"

McCoy wonders, dimly, if the bar is actually some part of a pleasure planet somewhere. Any place where fine alcohol and decent company can be found so readily can't be all bad.
"Well, if a man has to choose..." he looks down at his attire with a grim sort of smile. "I suppose this isn't the most appropriate attire, is it?"

Oh i say good man. You should at least clean up before stepping foot in such a fine establishment as this one!

*Sir D glares at the uncouth gentleman before him.*

McCoy blinks. There shouldn't be anyone in his office. Belatedly it occurs to him that he's not in his office. Disturbed, and confused, he looks around (at person-height) for the source of the voice.

If D had done that to Kirk, he would have gotten kicked. If he'd done that to Spock, he would have discovered how fast vulcans can move, when needed.
However, he did it to a very tired country doctor.
"God, give me strength." He stares, weary, at the fox-thing.

Zedd walks up to the man.

"You do know you look a complete mess don't you?"

McCoy can take a joke. Hell, McCoy is participant to one of the most fabled game of wits in Starfleet. Right now? He's tired, despirited, and needs a drink.
"Yeah..." he drawls, his accent strong, "Funny how that happens when you're holding a man's liver together."

Zedd nods.

"I understand the feeling rather well."

Zedd isn't what you would call uncivilized looking, but he does look like he came from the dark ages.

"Though I would ask you to hold still."

Nothing, in McCoy's experience, ever goes well when it starts with the words 'please hold still'. He backs up a step.
"Now hold on just a damn minute..."

Sara is wandering around the bar, not seeing anyone she has recently met. She comes across a gentleman with a very familiar haggard air about him.

"Sir, are you all right?" He can always tell her to mind her own business.

By the time Ray returns to the bar from his previous encounter with interesting drinks, it's dinnertime and then some. Which means he wanders into the room just about in time to catch sight of an awfully tired doctor and head over in his direction inobtrusively.

The good doctor is not in any sort of condition to notice anything inobtrusive. He probably would notice a glass of whisky. Or a mug of coffee. Coffee might be better, because in this mood, he might hit the drink a bit hard.

Fortunately, Dr. Stantz has a predilection for caffeine this evening. It's occurred to him that day and night mean very little in this place, so 'day' is 'whenever you're awake'. And according to Hal Jordan, the Bar makes really good coffee... so, when Ray heads to the bar, he comes away with two mugs thereof and heads in McCoy's direction. Hey, if the Starfleet officer doesn't want his, Ray can always use it.

"Doctor!" he calls from a polite distance. "Good to see you again."

McCoy snaps out of his depressed daze, giving Ray a bit of a wild-eyed stare before the reality of where he is crashes down and gives him a bit of balance.
"Ray." He nods, his manner friendly, if not warm. It's too soon for warm. His eyes fall on the mugs. "Please tell me that's coffee."
