I am not in the mood for your and the rest of Sallie's message appears in her mind as violently red Mandarin characters, before she stares again pointedly at the newly-changed crystal over the bar.

Still think this ain't nothin'?

Mike's been in a rough spot. Sallie knows this.

But they are the caretakers here.

Which means they have things need doing.

"Mike. You know I don't care what it smells like."

"Aw, no. This is not good. This... isn't good, right?"

"I don't know, sweetheart."

Sallie doesn't know much of anything about what's been going on of late, truth be told.

"It went from green to yellow to red, though. That's never a good sign." Even for sprites. "Should... should I start preparing evacuation procedures?"

"I would."

Even though Sallie's not leaving. Not yet, at least.

"If you've got a place to go, I'd go."

"If this is anything like a terrorist threat level, thaaat doesn't say good things."

Says one lately-AWOL assistant librarian.

"I'm not terribly comforted by it myself," Sallie admits somewhat regretfully.

What good is it being Barman if you have no clue what's going on?

Ava sighs.

"We're all gonna die, aren't we. I mean, in my case-- again."

"Not if I can help it.

"We are trying to convince Bound folk to climb into the Lost and Found box."

Teja scowls up at the crystal.

"One would assume that means I should send my cats away soon," he says.

"That's how I'm taking it, Teja."

[ostro_goth]

"They need a safe place to live," Teja says. "As does Urquhart's dog. Which this place, alas, no longer is. Has any found the common reason to all this mayhem yet?"

The Doctor is less interested in the color-changing crystal and more in the crack above the bar. It still hasn't opened yet, but he can feel the strain on it. If he can't figure something out soon, things are going to get bad.

Sallie spends a lot of time focusing on the crystal and the books and potential evacuation that she can almost pretend like the crack isn't there.

Almost.

When she sees the man staring, "I know. It's kind of awful to see."

The Doctor acknowledges her with a nod, and then turns his attention back to the crack. "More awful than you can imagine. I know what this is."
