"Those look nice." That would be Peeta dropping, unceremoniously, onto a stool next to her, paying far more attention to the sparklers than to the cake at all.
He looked to her, adding, "Hey," with an easy boyish smile. Amused at not saying it first. But still going right back to the sparklers. "It doesn't look like they're dripping."
That is entirely interest she's hearing in his voice.
Scorpius, who is dressed for bed in his footie pajamas and Montrose Magpies hoodie, leans against the counter, eying the cake dubiously after overhearing her (one-sided) conversation.
"I'm confused by all of this unbirthday, uhm - birthdayness. But happy unbirthday birthday all the same? And should I wish you a happy birthday too? For the regular one, I mean."
