The narration would like to point out that there are many useful, productive things that should be going on right now.

Instead, here - have a sparkly doctor man, in unusually informal clothing (long-sleeved tee shirt and corduroy pants), skimming something on a datapad that was left in the infirmary.

Easily distractable.

"Hello, Carlisle.

"Am I interrupting anything too important to interrupt?" Meg adds, with a glance at his . . . whatever that is.

It looks very futuristic, to her.

"If you were, it would be my own fault for sitting somewhere terribly public."

That's a 'no'.

After a moment's fidgeting to remember where the off-switch is, Carlisle puts down the datapad and smiles. "Hello Meg."

"I've sat in public places reading things and not wanting to be interrupted before," Meg says.

"How are you?"

It's been a while since she's seen him.

"I'm...well. Truly." Which is weird. (Welcome to Carlisle's world.) "No one has disappeared, no cliff diving, no...shenanigans, as Emmett might say. The most out-of-left-field experiences I've had of late have revolved around the idiotic things people do which land them in hospitals."
