Time for a bit of quiet time, away from the base and the war. Sort of. The book Howard is reading is an account of the aerial part of the Battle of France. By a man of some reputation as a flier as well as a writer, a man Howard admires. It's quite a gripping book.

But not so much so that Howard won't say hello.

Sameth has had a long day in the forge and is yawning when he enters the Bar.

As he passes Howard, he tries to get a better look at the book cover, it reminds him of something he'd see in Ancelstierre.

Howard looks up from the book for a moment and nods hello.

"Hello, are a pilot?"

Flight is one of those things Sameth is fascinated by and a little scared of. Paperwings make him nervous but he finds the ideas of other ways to fly full of possibilities.

"As a matter of fact, yes, but not the man who wrote this book, and this book is meant for general audiences.

"Interested in flying?" People who ask whether Howard is a pilot often are. Unless they are attractive young women, in which case they just think that pilots are also attractive.

Posner recognizes the book, and he thinks he recognizes the man reading it, though he should probably take a closer look before he does something to make a fool of himself.

For now, though, he just smiles and says, "You know, term's over. You don't have to keep revising..."

[ooc: Hope you don't mind. I've been meaning to tag Howard for a while now. :)]

"Beg your pardon?" Well, on occasion people have confused Howard for Clark Gable - okay, one occasion - so he could look like someone else, too.

As soon as he looks up it becomes obvious that Howard is not Dakin, though he does still look remarkably similar. Just...older, and (he'd never admit this to Dakin) slightly more dashing. And of course, there's the mustache.

"Oh, sorry! I...thought you were someone else."

"No, I'm afraid I'm me. You thought I was a college professor?" He's not sure if that that's a compliment or an insult.

"Rather gripping. It also clearly propaganda. Saint-Exupery followed up the publication of his book with a tour to support the war effort and the Free French forces. Interesting man, though." He marks his place in the book.

"How are you?"

"Things are quiet for you for once? Or are you spending too much time here?" Where talking to men even his age must be really tedious.
