It doesn't matter that the pseudo-Scottish winter dawn is obscured by thick layers of cloud; Rae can still feel the moment the sun breaks the horizon. Sunshine's daily run around the lake at dawn won't be deterred by mere weather. However, after her run, she will head back to the kitchens to start the day's baking - it looks like it might snow ( Read more... )

A familiar face is outside, near the Caribbean outlet. She is walking back and forth, occasionally taking a glance at the sun.

It is strange, that the temperature changes so much in just a few feet. And she isn't climbing a mountain, so it is not the altitude change. There is little wind.

It looks like she has just discovered one of the odder features of Milliways geography. And wondering how she can use it to break things.

Rae's on her last stretch before heading back to the bar when she sees her on the shore. In the one place in this grey Scottish winter Rae had been hoping to catch some sunlight.

"Hi there," she says as she slows down, wary but not about to give up hope of catching some sun.

The sun powered magic user. Rae?

Seemingly running for exercise. Hmm.

"Hello." She greets. Then she remembers something she accidentally told Rae. It would be better to be considered a religious nut than ... hmmm... the other possibilities are interesting, but would not be consistent with what she has been telling others.

"Here for this wonderuous sun? What a wonder that it shines so brightly here and not so much a few feet away."

"Yeah," she replies, nodding as she moves into the sunlight. Though it's winter, the light and subtle warmth feels like the touch of a friend. Welcome in the grey cold.

Forgive her if she stays a good ten feet away from the secretly-a-death goddess, though. "This time of year here it's about the only place to find any sun, even if it's weaker than it should be."

One can usually trust Legolas to be curious about -- well, most things, but things baking is definitely one of them.

He opens the door to the kitchens, and peers in. When he catches sight of Rae, he brightens. "Are you the artisan of those lovely smells?"

Sunshine looks up from draping a particularly ancient (though beautiful) piece of linen fabric over a large bowl of rising dough. It's an elf, she realizes, unless her vision (and whatever her Dark Sight wants to contribute) deceives her. Like Elrond or Glorfindel, though there are certainly differences.

"Lovely smells and the lovely tastes that go with them," she smiles, answering in the affirmative.

"I should hope," Legolas says, though his eyebrows raise in well-practiced despair at the thought as he adds: "it would be cruel to so tempt poor passer-bys, were that not so."

"Unfathomably cruel, yes," she grins. "I would indulge in some maniacal laughter, but I am out of practice."

Just like she's utterly and always out of practice in resisting the urge to offer food to people.

"Care for a cinnamon roll? They've just come out of the oven."

Someone is raiding the kitchens.

This someone is wearing multiple edged weapons, embroidered sleeves, and gems woven into his braids.

He didn't get the dress-code memo. And he probably would have laughed at it anyway.

Rae comes walking in from her run around the lake, panting lightly but not really out of breath. She's not really dressed for the cold, but has kept herself warm enough for comfort (magic is, no matter how she'd deny it, sometimes quite useful). By the time she gets back, the sun is up - if hidden by the clouds - and it's time to get down to some baking.

Except, she finds, there's an extremely well-armed elf in her baking space. One she's met before, at least, but it's still surprising. Weapons aren't customary, when one is searching for a snack.

"Good morning," she offers, a bemused look of surprise on her face.

"And with it, comes the Sun." Glorfindel replies cheerfully, offering a bow full of florishes. "I see you have been industrious."

"Just out running," she grins, still wondering at the light that edges his shadows and why it makes his good cheer so infectious. It lifts her heart, a little like the way the sun coming out from behind a cloud does. For whatever reason. "But I plan on being industrious. It's a baking day, for me."

She tosses her jacket on a hook near the door, switching it for an apron, and moves to wash her hands and face at the sink.
