It's lucky for the dog, that he stops. Not that Teresa is hungry just now or that she's particularly jumpy, but pets aren't really a phenomenon on her world. Horses, yes. Hunting dogs, rare.
She looks up at the animal and tilts her head, watching.
Fawkes has been planning and discussing many things with the humans at home, and so hasn't been to the Bar in a while. He's rather fond of the place. For one thing, few people here seem to think he's going to eat them. For another, the area outside is green in a way that even the experimental patch outside Megaton can't hope to match. It's an oddly soothing sort of strangeness, at least to him.
And there are not often steady fires in it. Short, spurting ones from angry rabbits, yes, but not steady camp-fires. At the sight of one that seems inclined to last, he stirs himself from where he'd been sitting and heads that way. It might be something of interest, after all.
It depends on how interesting you find young women in white armor sleeping in a sitting position. Teresa doesn't think herself all that interesting.
She hears him coming of course, and waits patiently for the source of the footsteps to make himself visible. As she can't detect an aura from him in the same way she knows where the rabbits in the forest are, she doesn't feel the need to stand up.
When she can finally see him, his appearance merits a curious head-tilt and a puzzled smile.
Well, armor is fairly common in the Wasteland. Fawkes' first sight of humans in longer than he can remember involved a suit of silver power armor and a suit of black power armor. The Brotherhood humans he knows wear the silver stuff fairly regularly, too. White's not a common color, though, so that at least is unusual.
He dips his head in reply to her gesture and rumbles, in his best I-understand-the-concept-of-indoor-voice, I'm-just-not-physically-capable-of-one tone, "My apologies if I disturbed your meditations. I was curious about the fire."
Chances are that the armor Fawkes is used to is considerably more... well, armored than this that seems to cover calves, forearms and shoulders and leaves the rest in leather. But it definitely looks armor-like.
"I wasn't meditating," she says, when it's established that he's not going to fight her. "I was sleeping. The fire keeps animals away."
And there's an element of comfort in the light and heat, even though she doesn't really need it.
There is a lynx in the wood who was out hunting. She has got a prize with her, a demon bunny who is about to get an autopsy. Well, as much as an autopsy that can be done using lynx teeth and claws. The death goddess hiding inside the lynx fur does not like the cold.
All she has to do now is find a place she can work without other animals coming by to interfere.
Clearing. Campfire. Hmmm.
Tall woman in armor. Broadsword.
No, she feels partially like a demon, but not any demon type she is familiar with. How many of these demon hybrids are out here?
The woman is also here past her expiration date.
Curious and wanting to use the campfire to keep other animals away, the lynx approaches the clearing. Suspicious of the demon-woman, she enters the clearing, keeping an eye on what the woman does.
Now this is interesting. This cat-like creature has an aura. Not quite a yoma aura, but as similar as the ones possessed by the rabbits.
She lifts her head, and watches it. If anything, the fact that it's got a noticeable aura is reassuring to Teresa, who can read them better than she can body language. At least it's unlikely to take her by surprise.
The lynx walks this way and that assessing the situation. How much of a reach does the woman have? How strong could she be?
A thought comes creeping into her head. The woman is past her expiration date; would it be against the rules if she decided to explore the woman's internal organs like she is about to do to the rabbit?
The lynx shakes its head as if trying to shake the idea out of its mind.
It settles for a spot almost opposite the woman. Close to the fire, but keeping a clear line of sight on the woman.

He stops near the edge of the clearing, tentatively wagging his tail at the strange human on the ground.
In the background, she might hear the firm tread of long human steps following.

He wags his tail and waits for a reaction, or for his own human to appear. His own human has things that make dangerous creatures drop dead.

Teresa retains her mild smile and eventually tries a question, "are you a person shaped like an animal?"

"So you just wanted to use the fire, did you? Go ahead, I don't care."
