The back door opens, admitting a rush of cold air and a troll catgirl wrapped in furs.

Pretty soon she's arranged the furs into a heap on the floor by the fire, and is stretched out on top of them with her tablet and a starfish sandwich and a mint chocolate milkshake.

William's also by the fire and reading a book, but keeps glancing at Nepeta, he's never seen anyone who looks quite like her.

He manages a smile as he realizes he doesn't know how old she is, it's hard to tell.

When she smiles like that, she could be anywhere between six and ten years old. Or the troll equivalent.
