The woman who has been introducing herself as Sarah (here, at least) is at a table rolling around a jar containing three white ... slug things. Also at the table is a notepad, a pencil, a mug of beer, and a meat pie

The sluglings don't actually have faces but somehow they manage to make puppy dog eyes at Ako.
"Help us!" they say. "We're hungry!"
"Shush, or you will wind up as dinner." Sarah says as she taps on the glass with the pencil. "Or rum." This is one of those rare instances when she is suppressing her mental defenses. Braindead sluglings will do her no good. Not right now.
"Sea slugs. Young ones, but then again, the older ones aren't seen in the wild anymore."
Either they are too wily to get caught, or there is a predator out there keeping them from getting too big. She doesn't know. The sea is icky and wet. Full of yummy fish, but icky and wet.
"Troublesome little things. Even this young they can put thoughts into your head."
"Nuh uh, we are just talking. We have mouths that can talk and the cutest little faces? See?"
Sarah gives them another warning tap on the glass.
There may be a pair of white ears showing over the edge of the table, and a curious pair of green eyes, though whether or not they're aimed at the slugs or the meat pie is debatable.
"A cat!" "She's scared of cats! Hey kitty! Scare the mean lady away!" "Yes! Free us! Then we will feast onwith you!" "That cat looks hungry, it is going to eat us you idiot!"
The sudden increase in psychic chatter causes Amascut to notice the ears and eyes. She freezes.
He's a white cat! He's in league with the little white devils! Obviously. She grabs the jar and holds it close to her chest. "Back! You won't be freeing your comrades, cat!" she says while waving the pointy end of the pencil at Yrael.
"OW OW OW! You idiot, I can feel her eating my brain!" "What were you thinking?" "Kitty! Save us! You are our only hope!" "Stop thinking so loud!"
One of the slugs turns toward Carlotta and makes a cute face at her, trying to take advantage of any motherly instincts she may be developing. Despite its lack of an actual human looking face.
"Sea slugs, very young ones. Not that my world lets them become mature anymore." Somehow, they still reproduce. "Though they can still push thoughts into your head if you get too close," Sarah warns.
The Fool stares at the slugs inna jar. He's kind of slouched over the edges of the booth seat opposite of her and watches them get slogged around as she rolls the jar.

Ako is more worried about what Sarah-san has in the jar after the exploding tribbles last time.

Sarah notices and raps against the jar with the pencil. Then she puts more distance between the jar and Carlotta.
"There, just to be safe."
"That is a very nice coat. Are you settling well into your role as ringmaster?"

Now The Fool nows how how it feels when other people hear his bells.

Likely not.
"They don't seem happy," he comments to her, tipping his hat out of his eyes.

These won't get to grow up. She isn't planning on keeping them alive for much longer. They are just being memory aids right now.
