"Interesting outfit," comments the short, stocky fellow in the open leather duster. "Looks kind of like some of the gear you see on display at Feastday."
Dumbledore smiles brightly at the fellow in the leather duster.
"It is quite impressive, is it not? Especially when you take into account that, according to the head of St. Mungo's, they found a doxy infestation in the storage room when they went to fetch it. All things considered, they repaired it quite handily."
"Which feast day is it that you celebrate, exactly?"
"Can't say I know what a doxy is, but I'll take your word for it that they're a problem for clothing," says Varric. "For all I know we might just not have them in Kirkwall... Oh, you know, the winter holiday with a dozen names across Thedas. Someone got tired of calling it 'Solstice' and started tacking on other names, and next thing you know, well."
"They're quite hard on wool, and almost as bad on velvet, it seems," Professor Dumbledore says.
They had been quite apologetic about the lingering smell of doxicide. Fortunately, Dumbledore knew a spell to mask it with the scents of cinnamon and gingerbread.
"Christmas is the common name where I am from. Very much the same idea, though, I believe."
"Well, we need folks doing the locum work." Father Christmas says. "It takes a lot of organising to do the real thing, and I rarely get time to do the hospital rounds or shopping centres."

"I dare say it would be, but I'm told that the effect is festive and seasonal."
The children at St. Mungo's had seemed to find it so.

His eyes twinkle a bit behind half-moon glasses. Almost as if in delighted anticipation.
"May I take your words to mean, then -- and forgive me if I'm inquiring after the obvious -- that you are the genuine Father Christmas?"
