It's pretty dark out back, but not too dark to see Buffy perched on one of the rocks by the lake, arms around her knees. Or the mug of hot chocolate balanced by her ankle, steaming fragrantly into the wind.
It is probably too dark to see the look on her face, which promises uninspired and gloomy conversation.

Right. It's like that time it was Christmas here when it was -- not Christmas, her memory supplies halfheartedly.
