William's reading The Three Musketeers by the fire and notices Jacen when he's rearranging himself and grins,

"It looks like you found the best spot to sit?"

"Oh -- yeah, I think so!"

Jacen glances from the nearest rat to the fire, then smiles at William.

"It's pretty warm."

"It is, the days keep gettin' colder. Our stove at home don't get half as hot as this fireplace."

"--well, I guess I'm used to space where it's always cold," Jacen admits, rubbing his hair self-consciously. "Definitely colder outside'f here than I'm used to, though."

There's a green twi'lek, in what could almost be taken as a spacer's costume, complete with twin models of the blaster his father is especially enamoured with strapped over her hips.

She's also giving him a very amused look.

It's a weird look on her face. She is a little out of practice with happy.

It takes Jacen several minutes to realise someone else is paying attention to him. (He's terrible when it comes to awareness in general, at this age.) Even when he picks up on it, the only reason he gives the girl a second glance is because she's a non-human -- the first he's seen in Milliways.

He smiles at her, cheerfully. "Hi."

He confuses her. He's obviously Force-sensitive, and even has what might be considered training, but he isn't dressed as a initiate. He's not Dark, or at least not obviously, but she'd imagine they have their own traditions. She also knows, very well, there are no child Paladins.

At least, there aren't in her where and when.

Even though she is one, the idea is a little chilling.

"Hello." Her accent is Coruscant, for all she hasn't been there for almost a decade. "Do the rats take well to mindspeech?"

"Oh, well, they're strange," Jacen concedes, with a friendly glance away to the one who has just left him. "Not like ranats back home. But yes, I think they like someone to talk to. Have you tried before?"

He studies her, openly curious. He's visited his uncle's Academy many times, but he doesn't recognise this girl, and she seems old enough to have begun studies there if Luke had found her.
