The front door doesn't slam open, because that would be rude, but it's certainly opened with a fair amount of purpose as a woman strides in. She's a striking woman, brown curly hair cut and styled in a very WWII way, wearing a khaki uniform with heels, skirt, and (besides the two badges on her jacket's lapels) a deliberate lack of insignia ( Read more... )

Sameth looks up from his work and stands up, her outfit reminds him of Ancelstierre and the look on her face of Ellimere,

"Can I help?"

Sameth's clothes...would remind her of a medieval tapestry, only they are too simple to be a court's clothes. Similar style, though.

"Yes, you can," and the 'and you will' remains unspoken, but hovering in the air. "Where am I?"

"This is Milliways, it's the Bar at the End of the Universe,"

He looks awkward because he knows while it's true, this is the start of the explanation.

"At the end of the universe, there is a pub."

Keep talking, Sameth.

Well.

There's the girl? The short one over there, with the short steel-grey hair and the scars, generally Korean-looking? Wears a dark green set of what looks like the way they depict U.S. Army fatigues in Irving Berlin movies? Okay, the insignia stitched on the front is not even remotely in use at the moment, but still...

Um. Anyway, she's getting up and coming over to have a look at the newcomer, so.

The girl makes even less sense, in a whole host of ways.

"...who the bloody hell are you?"

Beat.

"And where am I?"

"My name's Ellen Park, ma'am," says Ellen. "I'm pretty sure you have no reason to know me, though."

Even if she does look rather more like someone from her world than most other patrons here, she's got a very pre-War look about her.

"This place is a little difficult to explain, but it's called Milliways, for starters."

"Margaret Carter." She's not the best fond of her name, but she's not on 'Peggy' terms with just anyone.

"Miss Park, when I walked in, I was leaving a- building, in London."

X, wearing a black tank top, black yoga pants, black boots, and fingerless black gloves (there may be a theme here), looks up from a handheld device and blinks.

Twice.

Then she stands up, sliding said device into her belt and moving forward, quick and quiet.

At least she stays out of Peggy's blind spots?

"Hello."

The girl's clothes are taken note of, and neatly catalogued away for further analysis. But it's certainly not something a woman would be wearing in London, in October, in 1942.

"Good evening," Peggy says because social training is social training. "Where am I?"

"Milliways."

X's response is prompt.

"It is a bar."

Some newcomers do not have a keen eye for the obvious.

X thinks it is better to be careful.

Peggy's eyes narrow a little.

"Yes, I can see it was a pub. I was not walking into one."

A nineteen-year-old in prim black robes looks up over her glass of wine and cocks an enquiring brow.

"Good evening."

"Good evening," she replies, tone even exactly for the crackling under the surface. "Where the bloody hell am I?"

"In specific: Milliways, in general: a bar, in geographic: the end of the universe." Minerva takes a sip of wine, eyes never leaving Peggy. "Or rather more poetically, the place 'we're all mad here' was made for."

She rises to her feet in a brief swirl of robes. "Minerva McGonagall. Pleased to meet you."

"Margaret Carter, likewise."

Beat.

"How did I get to the end of the universe from London? I wasn't aware that an event in time could be a place."

Recognizing new patrons is fairly easy in Milliways. And as Elrond was doing nothing but leafing through a book he has already read countless times before, it is only right and proper that he should get up and offer his assistance.

Out of arms reach as her body language suggests that she is not best pleased with her arrival.

"Lady. You are a stranger here, I think?" Only phrasing it as a question out of politeness.

He is very tall, very handsome, dressed in linen and wool embroidered with vines, and very clearly - for the perceptive - not human.

She is perceptive.

Very perceptive.

"I have never been here before, no," she manages, etiquette training kicking in.

"It is a safe place for travelers - if somewhat confusing at first," he says. his voice warm and gentle.

"My name is Elrond Half-elven and I will be happy to introduce you to this place, if you would like me to."

He sounds vaguely British, but there is a lilt in his voice that is very hard to place.

"Margaret Carter," she says automatically, even as her mind is processing Elrond Half-elven. It doesn't sound like any kind of name she's heard of outside old, old mythologies. "And I...appear to be in dire need of introduction, yes."
