The good news is that Castiel is highly unlikely to register the mock-worthiness of Dean's outfit.

The bad news is....well, there's an angel in the bar.

Castiel had himself been relieved to duck into Milliways. Sometimes he worries that Zachariah will start to see the number of secrets he's been keeping.

For the moment, he only regards Dean from a distance. Their last conversation here hadn't gone that well.

"I take it you are speaking of Meg Ford."

See? Sometimes he is swift on the uptake.

"You tellin' me you had someone else taking a spin?"

Castiel shakes his head.

"No. Just Meg."

But it pays to be clear. Especially with humans.

Especially with less than rational humans.

"And....this displeases you."

"I could've killed her."

Worse, he could have played with her before she died.

It makes him sick.

Castiel gives him a look that on anyone other than an angel might translate as Oh, please.

"No. You could not have."

"Precautions were taken."

Dean's response is quick and vicious.

Castiel clasps his hands behind his back and tilts his head.

"How so?"

Time to defend your position, Dean Winchester.

"Unless your freaky angel-mojo is really damn fast -- "

Dean shakes his head.

"It only takes a second. Even if she screamed right off the bat -- "

"It is. Really damn fast."

Castiel is starting to get the vocabulary of modern profanity. The inflection still needs some work.

"At any rate, you are wasting time and energy worrying about it now. Clearly you did not harm her."

Why revel in a worst-case scenario that might have happened but did not?

"But I could've. You put her in a situation where I could have."

His mouth twists closer to a sneer again.

"And you want me to trust you?"

Fuck no.

Not in this lifetime.

Castiel regards him for a long moment.

"She does."

Just as Meg has his implicit trust.

"Does Meg Ford strike you as an especially foolish or unintelligent person?"

"Considerin' she kept gettin' in a room with me when she knew I was out of my fricking mind -- "

He's gonna hold that against Castiel until his dying day.

" -- I'm gonna go with 'yeah'."

Dean has never been one to let logic and common sense get in the way of his self-loathing.

Or his seething rage at supernatural bullshit.

Fortunately, Castiel's hide is thick enough to weather some grudges. Even Winchester grudges.

"It was a necessity. You needed to be reminded of what humanity was. It was an area in which I was ill-equipped to aid you."

"And Meg is the best example I know."

"Well. Whatever floats your boat."

Dean's not even touching that with a ten foot pole.

"Just -- you ever want a hope in Hell of gettin' me to do what you want? Don't do that again."

And, you know.

Leave Sam the hell alone. But he figures that one's already down as read.

By the Grace of God, it won't be necessary to do it again.

"I am curious. If I am to have a hope of gaining your cooperation, what should I do?"

Not that Castiel could ever promise that he could abide by it.

But he is curious.
