A just-barely-adolescent catgirl troll is perched happily in the rafters, surveying the bar.

There's just something so satisfying about being where you can see everything and nothing can reach you.

On the next rafter over, something sleek and black stirs, opening two yellow-green eyes to blink muzzily at Nepeta.

"And which cats have you met before?"

[nepetaleijon]

"Pounce," she says, "and Jaspers? Only I didn't meet him until after he got purrototyped as a game sprite, so he could talk."

[withhistailhigh]

"Well, then. You must be an expert on cats."

Sarcastic? Him? Surely you jest!

[nepetaleijon]

"Well..."

Jaspers used to tell her she was clever and wonderful, and purr at her. This cat doesn't seem likely to do that anytime soon.

"I used to study wild cats a lot, too," she tries again. "Hunting."

[withhistailhigh]

Yeahhhhh he's not that kind of animal companion. Not by a long shot.

"And did they have names?"

[nepetaleijon]

"I wouldn't purrsume to guess," she says, loftily.

[withhistailhigh]

"I would."

The cat begins the vitally important task of washing its face.

[nepetaleijon]

Nepeta watches for a moment.

"Are all the cats so small where you come from?"

[withhistailhigh]

"It depends," says the cat, in between licking his paw and rubbing it across his face.

[nepetaleijon]

"On what?"

Curious troll is curious.

[withhistailhigh]

"A number of things. Age, species, living conditions."

[nepetaleijon]

"How big do they get?"

... also persistent.

[withhistailhigh]

"Considerably larger than you." He moves on to grooming his shoulder blades.

[nepetaleijon]

"My lusus was about half again as big as me. But she was about the smallest kind there was."

[withhistailhigh]

"Lions and tigers," says the cat, "get a great deal larger than that. Others may be smaller than myself. But none as handsome, of course."
