Twilight Sparkle has determined that the owl she rescued last week does, in fact, have a spell on it. So the human might have been crazy, but he wasn't lying. Finding out how long the spell will last, and how to cut it short... that's proving to be much more difficult ( Read more... )

William has never seen a horse that color before, he's seen pictures of miniature horses but not one that's reading.

At this point he hasn't even noticed her horn yet as he's stuck on purple horse reading.

Twilight, likewise, hasn't noticed she has an audience yet. She telekinetically flips the page, still scribbling down notes with a quill pen.

As she flips the page, he notices her horn and slowly comes forward, he grew up around horses so he doesn't want to spook her,

"What are you writin'?"

"Techniques for analyzing and/or dispelling powerful enchantments," says the unicorn without looking up. "There are a lot more possible approaches than I first thought."

Twilight probably won't notice Tyler coming in, he certainly doesn't notice her as he walks past, sneakers squishing.

What she might notice is the smell however. And we'll say this much, the good Tyler is currently covered in, is certainly fragrant, and getting stronger as it dries.

Yes. Yes, she does.

"...is that you??"

"Bath now. Bath now." Tyler wants this grey gunk off of him right now. He smells like the bastard child of a florist shop and a butcher's garbage can, and knows it!

It's enough to make bathing in the Lake seem tempting.

"Wait, hang on--" Twilight stands up and faces Tyler directly. "I just learned a Quick-Clean spell a few days ago. Hold still a second..."

She closes her eyes and concentrates. Her horn flares with purple light, and an aura of that same light sweeps over Tyler.

Speaking of owls, one just landed on her table, searching for delicious, delicious crumbs. She's getting along with Milliways very well.

Twilight starts in surprise. "Oh! Hello there. Where'd you come from?"

She coos at Twilight.

And a girl in Hufflepuff robes... is, er, staring at her. She was going to retrieve her intrusive owl, but it's much more important now to stare at the unicorn.

Twilight gives the owl a gentle pet with one hoof. "Are you here with someone?" she asks it. "Or all by yourself?"

Not far away, a human is engaged in a similar task. His book and paper are considerably smaller, and his notes fewer, and he adds a sheet of carved stone to the mix, but research is research.

At some point, he looks up briefly. And then doesn't look back down, because he's staring at Twilight. She's not very much like anything he's encountered, although...

The next time she looks up, he asks, "Would your name happen to be Fleet?"

"...no, it's Twilight Sparkle," she says. "I knew a colt named Fleet when I was in middle school, though. Why?"

Felix shrugs. "You look somewhat like the elemental spirits of my world, whose names and appearances reflect each other and relate to their elements. I am Felix."

"I'm not an elemental spirit," says Twilight. "Just a unicorn pony. And you're a human, right?"
