Out of nowhere, the male duo has company.

Beaut runs parallel to Rachat, a few dozen feet to the east and on the opposite side of a wide, rolling field. Kate's shaking leaves from her shoulders, and when she sees Jim her whole face brightens.

"Yah!"

Horse and rider cut inwards, posting ruts in the earth as they close in.

Jim gives the other horse and rider first a curious look. And then a small smile.

It's been too long since they raced. But that was long ago, and since then Jim and Rachat have found a rhythm.

It takes very little to spur Rachat on. The race, it seems, is on.

It's been far, far too long indeed. Since the last time these two saw each other, Kate's been holed up in a rut. July isn't the best time of the year for her, and now that it has passed she has a whole hell of a lot of energy to kill.

She whoops, and Beaut responds. Strong, sweat-slicked legs pump to bring her up level with Rachat, close enough so Kate can be heard.
