Felix sighs when Bar gives him the note. But he mutters an "All right" and steps around behind. After looking a few things up, he puts a few things on the specials board:

Specials
Riddle's Shot
Enigma
Frustration

After a moment he adds another line:

Half-price if you tell me about magic-draining or other energy-draining phenomena on your world. ( Read more... )

"Why would you want to know about something like that?"

There's a Fool! He is a curious thing. With bells on.

...This man jingles.

"To find out how to stop the ones on my world." Which is true, but there's pretty obviously more to it than that.

Not only that, but the bells? They're not visible and it's not like they're being heard by an ear so much as your brain telling you that you're hearing bells.

"Energy eaters or magic eaters? Are they living creatures or machine made?"

Oh, joy. Still, the man himself seems polite enough. Felix may as well not antagonize him.

He shrugs. "They seem to be affecting the elemental energies that make the world, the same energies Adepts manipulate. They are vortexes; I'm fairly sure they're not alive, and I haven't noticed any machines, but I haven't wanted to examine them closely or for long."

[ooc: I hope I'm not too late?]

Kate walks in through the back door, more dirt and dust than woman. She's tugging off a pair of leather gloves and tipping a cowboy hat back. It hangs from her neck by the stampede string, sending a plume of dust in her wake.

She walks up to the Bar and hooks one of her boots on the rung of a bar stool, shoving her gloves in her pocket.

"Those are interestin' specials."

[ooc: Not by any means! I'd gone to bed, but I live in slowtime.]

Felix shrugs. "They reflect what's on my mind." It seems to be a common method of picking specials here, at least from what he's seen.

She arches her eyebrows, fixing him with a gently-teasing look.

"'N I thought I had it bad."

She unbuttons her tanned hide jacket and slips onto a seat, gesturing to the board with her chin.

"So, what's a Riddle's Shot?"

Felix shrugs, but doesn't ask how bad she's had it.

"Tequila and hot sauce," he answers. Not that he's especially familiar with either. "And I'm afraid I don't know what that has to do with riddles."

"I have not talked to you since I first came in here, I think," says the red-haired red-eyed woman as she sits at the bar. "Can I get a mug of Braindeath rum for half price if I talk about my world? Or does that offer only apply to the specials?"

It takes Felix a moment to place the woman; it's been over a year. But remember he does.

He nods. "How have you been, since then? And no, the offer is for anything." Privately, he wonders what kind of person names a drink 'Braindeath', or chooses to drink it, but it's not his place to judge. Just to find.

A person who has a hard time getting drunk, and wanted to warn off others from drinking the stuff.

"Well enough, that window doesn't bother me as much as it did," she answers. "It may depend on your definition of energy or magic draining, but I haven't ever heard of anything that can drain away magic. It can be used up, I suppose, but not what I would call drained. I have been hearing of something new in my world that drains life energy."

Where's that rum?

Aha, there it is.

...Is it eating through the bottle?

"Draining life energy?" he repeats. That doesn't sound like the same thing, but he wouldn't say - without knowing more - that it's any better.

"Hello, Enzo." Felix frowns. "Is it a common problem on your world?"

"Well, since my entire world is made of energy..."
