William's been avoiding the lake and Milliways but today he wanted to get in some target practice and that worries his mother.

So as he's on his way back to the Bar, he notices the woman sitting and comes over to Lily and tips his hat and says,

"Miss, there's a dangerous mermaid in there. I wouldn't recommend sittin' too close to the water,"

He has a pistol on his belt and slight bags under his eyes.

And she has a wand in her pocket.

"Thank you for the warning, but I think I'll be all right," she says.

She's safely on the rocks and not inclined to go wading.

"Yes, miss, sorry to bother you. She's just tricky though she don't seem to care that much for women, least I don't think so,"

The mermaid bothers him and he realizes that he's talking too much.

"It's all right," she says.

"You're really not bothering me.

"I'm Lily Evans."

Ginny was practicing her flying. She was bound and had a borrowed broom from bar as she lands far enough away from Lily not to scare her. It's always a start to see a ginger not related to herself.

"I am not bothering you am I?"

(Don't worry, Ginny. If you'd even come close to scaring her, there'd be a wand pointed at you right now.)

"No, of course not.

"Hello, Ginny."

"Okay, because I will bugger off if you were aiming for alone time. I know how annoying it can be to be bothered when you just want your own company."

"No, it's fine," Lily says.

"How are you?"

It's around the half moon, which means Teddy is at his best, neither lethargic or irritable, so why not enjoy the warmth?

'Enjoy' here translates to 'target practice against some nearby trees', but at least it isn't paperwork.

"Beware of the squid," he says mildly to Lily as he takes one of his breaks, "I don't know if it's aggressive, but you never know."

"Oh, don't worry about me," she says, cheerfully.

She can take care of herself.

"But thanks for the warning."

Teddy gestures at her clothes. It's the most miniscule of tiny gestures, and accompanied by no change in facial expression.

"Hogwarts student? I've not seen many around here."

"Really?" she asks, surprised. "I seem to run into them all the time."

How odd.
