Fenris walks up to stand before her without a word, watching her clean her plasma rifle with great interest.

It's even money whether Dogmeat or Ellen glances up first, but Ellen smiles at the new arrival. "Oh, hello, Fenris," she says. "I was just looking after my weapon. How have you been?"

"Good day, serah Ellen." He points. "Your weapon,this is not gaatlok, is it."

These days, Fenris's interest in the variety of Milliways weapons trumps most other things. Like social niceties.

"No, this is an energy weapon," Ellen says. "It's called a plasma rifle. It uses these-" She reaches into her belt pouch and pulls out a cylinder about the size of a baby's fist. "To fire bolts of energy at the target and inflict damage. All the guns I have that use gunpowder are smaller."

People ask questions; she answers. It's simple enough. In the Vault where she grew up, manners often consisted of just plain not touching on certain subjects and evading others.

Her smile turns wry, just for a second.

"I've had worse months, so I can't be ungrateful."
