There is a young man standing at the door looking rather surprised. He'd never seen place like this before. Where he was from the elders of his race had all but shuttered themselves away fearing anything and everything that may befall them. This place was not filled with his people, they were not Brunnen G, he stared for a moment. His heart thumped

Eventually, his gaze lights on something of great personal interest - a face, right up in his, with more teeth than Brunnis' five cheeriest singers combined, or at least it looks that way when all those teeth are that close to you.

"Cheer up, Kai," this ghastly apparition says. "It might never happen." (Actually, it will - Ryûk can see quite clearly that the kid has less than a year to live - but something else won't.)

Kai gapped, when he resumed his composure, a few minutes later he spoke.

"And who are you?"

"I'm Ryûk. Nice to meet you."

Kai tried to smile... but it didn't stick, "Charmed..."

Beat.

"Where am I?"

Carlotta is nearby, on crutches. She has a metal cage on her right lower leg.

Taking pity on the man, she hobbles over.

"Are you all right?"

He shook his head tearing his gaze away from the window.

"Where am I?" he breathed.

"Milliways, a bar at the end of the universe." Carlotta says. "You've travelled through a portal in space and time."
