Sam is at the Bar and is poking at a plate of food that he's barely eaten with an empty glass beside him. Its time to go and he has notepaper to write on but can't seem to find the words.

He's not sure when leaving Milliways became so hard.

Sam grins and takes a long drink of his beer,

"Yes, life is always exciting around him just not safe. I wouldn't worry so much if he didn't think most of the dangers of the Old Kingdom aren't real."

"Well, he'll learn that the first time he meets a dragon. Or whatever dangers you actually have."

His smile fades, "He's already fought the Dead and he still doesn't."

"Well, people are like that," Ianto says reflectively. "They refuse to believe their own eyes sometimes."

"I know and it could get him killed or worse."

"IS there a spell for opening one's eyes?"

"Sadly no. He has to acknowledge what he sees and I can't do that for him."

"Well, I have no advice about that. We tend to discourage people dealing with things they can't comprehend."

"If I could have made it so he only dealt with it while safe, I would have. That choice was taken out of my hands when we were attacked."

"But if he'd been safe, he wouldn't have been fighting the Dead to begin with."

"No one expected that attack and no one was safe that day."

Ianto sighs. "You talk in circles a lot, has anyone ever told you that?"

"Sorry, I know I'm not very clear. Teja's told me and I try to be better, but I'm still learning."
