If the day is nice enough, why not spend it outside? That's how a few people in Milliways think and Scorpius happens to be one of them. And it was with that thought in mind, he had grabbed his Arthimancy book and his book-bag and headed out toward the lake ( Read more... )

Orpheus is definitely one of those people who think nice days should be spent outside.

He's also one of those people who think that activity is (generally) better than non-activity, so when he sees the boy with the cat on his knees, napping in the sunshine, he quietly moves to sit against a tree nearby and starts to strum softly on his guitar.

It's not a song that would mean much to Scorpius, but to Red it's a song about pesky little bugs and tempting mice and possibly just a bit of catnip.

Catnip? Like the seedling Demeter gave Scorpius? Red likes that, though it's taking an awfully long time to grow. But bugs and mice are just as well.

Red stretches, giving a cat yawn, at the first notes of the song. She turns her head in Orpheus' direction, resting her chin on an outstretched paw. Her tail swishes.

Scorpius merely shifts in his sleep.

Bugs and mice, of course. Bugs like the one that, sung there by Orpheus, rests, unsuspecting, between Scorpius' shoulder blades.

What.

Red flicks her tail again and then slowly turns her gaze toward Scorpius.

She stills. And then hunkers down low enough as she possibly can, readying to pounce.

There are two options presented to the Fool here.

One: The joys of permanent marker.

Two; The joys of cat taunting.

Hurrmm...

Option one would be cruel. And Scorpius would like to think that Red would protect him from such cruelty, but that's highly unlikely.

So long as her pillow remains undisturbed (and she's not being taunted), Red is not likely to move any time soon.

Scorpius sleeps on, completely unawares of any evil plotting.

To pacify any sort of ideas of torture of his dead human, the Fool has some leftover fish jerky in a pocket should the need arise.

A permanent marker is removed and he starts to doodle lightly on the boy's face.

Red approves, then.

(Or, at the very least, is unconcerned with the ongoings.)

Scorpius, however, would most certainly not approve, if he were awake.

As it is, he's lost in a good dream and merely shifts at the first touch of marker. Followed shortly by a twitch of his nose and swat of his hand.

Half an hour later, a familiar blonde girl will be approaching him.

That's what happens when you're out for a run and you happen to spot someone lying stomach-down on the ground.

And, given everything, her first thought is that he's unconscious and injured, not that he's asleep.

(But a quick check confirms he's very much alive. Thank the gods.)

She shakes his shoulder gently.

"Hey. Scorpius."

Scorpius resists at first, murmuring something in his sleep as he tries to bury his face in the crook of his elbow.

But, gentleness is a hard thing to resist. It pulls him out of his dreams and he's soon stretching beneath the touch.

He blinks, waking up.

And she definitely wins at being a good something to wake up to.

"Hullo."

"Hi," she returns, offering him a small grin. "Or maybe I should be saying 'good morning'. How long have you been out here?"

"I don't, er - I don't really know," he says, stifling a yawn.

He stretches again, this time disturbing Red who jumps from his legs with a disgruntled look. She curls into a new spot in the grass as he turns over and sits up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

"Not long, I think. Why, you haven't been trying to wake me up for an hour, have you?"

Because that'd be embarrassing. He's not that deep of a sleeper.

Will's happy to see its not raining outside and was planning on possibly going to the pells and other things.

Then he almost trips over Scorpius and laughs before sitting down in the grass and gently shaking his shoulder,

"Careful lest the rabbits get ye, lad."

"What's that about rabbits?" Scorpius asks groggily after he's been woken up from being (almost) tripped on and shaken awake. He stifles a yawn and rubs at his eyes as he sits up.

Red has already relocated to a safe patch of grass. She wasn't about to be stepped on by getting underfoot.

"Oh, right."

That would have turned a very pleasant afternoon right around.

Scorpius scrubs a hand through his hair as he frowns at Red. Because this is all her fault, after all.

"Well, I wasn't planning to fall asleep. It only happened. Thanks, I suppose."
