Kate comes inside from checking on the stock one last time. There's been some... interesting activity outside over the last few months, not limited to the birth of a two-headed cow (who is, in the very strangest way, cute as a button), but all-in-all things continue as 'normal

"Hi," said Seras standing near wearing her yellow uniform.

It takes Kate a moment to place her.

Without her red, bloodthirsty eyes.

"Oh! Good evenin'... I'm glad t'see you're all right."

Last she saw of Seras, security was leading her away from the bar fight.

"Yeah..." she rubbed the back of her neck, "Are you okay?"

"Yes. I healed up just fine."

Beat.

"Oh, golly. The clothes. Yes, I'm fine, I'm jus' headin' back home in what I was in last I was there."

"- Miss Barlow? Um. Are - are you all right?" asks the teenage boy, approaching her with a fair amount of care and concern in his expression.

Kate really didn't put as much thought into visiting the bar looking like this as she should have.

"Albus - "

She shakes her head, smoothing her hand over the tear in her blouse.

"I'm fine, sugar. I'm goin' back home."

Beat.

"These are what I was wearin'."

"Blimey. Um. You're not going home to that, are you?"

He knows they've had a similar conversation before, but ... Albus really can't help but worry.

He gestures towards the bloodstains.

Her features soften.

"I dunno."

Perhaps she should lie.

"I hope not. If things go my way."

There is a quiet thump to Kate's left, made by a ragged bunch of black feathers falling out of the rafters.

No, wait.

It's a woman, wearing jeans and a ragged black coat. She tilts her head, the angle painfully awkward.

Then she grins, wide and bright.

"You, I think, are not so much a zombie, yes? Likely it is better so."

Jesus Christ, is Miss Bar making her whiskey stronger these days?

"I'm... no."

She squints at the rafters, and then again at the woman.

"I'm disappointingly mortal."

Raven wrinkles her nose, snorting a little.

"It is, I think, not so much a disappointment."

This is punctuated by another grin.

"Immortality is a different kind of boring, yes?"

She arches her eyebrows, smiling despite herself.

(Baffled.)

"I wouldn't know," she chuckles. "I've never been immortal."

Beat.

"Have you?"
