It's been a while since he's found the Bar, which is why his first expression is of surprise--and then delight.

And now there's a slightly dusty and sweaty not-quite-Roman captain lounging in a booth and making headway into a steak.

From his open curiosity as he surveys the Bar, he's more than happy to welcome company.

Sameth is so happy to have something to work on again and the car parts for Claudia are fascinating.

He's at a table with a book about the parts and a few in front of them and making sketches since he doesn't want to have to make anything twice.

Well, there's an ever-taller cadet wandering in search of a good place to sit and eat his chili, if you're offering.

Tavi will, at least, give him a nod of greeting if he sees--although he's rather busy shovelling a solid meal into his mouth to randomly call out.

If he doesn't have to take time out for meals at home, this is a good thing.

Enzo spots the nod and wanders over.

"I know you," he declares, in that way that means that while he's sure he does, the actual identity is not springing immediately to mind.

Still, he's only met a handful of Alerans, all of whom were quite distinct from each other. It's mainly the name he's forgotten.

Tavi can't help the small smile. Enzo really is one of his favorite people to chat with in the Bar, even if he, er, sorta is lying to his old friend right now.

But hey. That goes with the job.

"You do," he agrees, with a trace of amusement.

There is a creature--mammalian or reptilian is hard to tell--taking full advantage of its size advantage over its owner, pushing Kida towards a table with his head placed firmly against her back.

Several times, in being so adamant, he almost makes her fall, dropping the bowl she had carefully held in her small hands. "Soja! Bad." A waitrat squeaks at her, but won't come close enough to help clean it up--probably wise, since that pet of hers is about the size of a small tiger.

There are some fairly strange creatures in Alera--gargants come to mind (being basically giant badgers)--but... well, Tavi's never seen one quite like that.

After a few moments, he asks with a trace of amusement in his voice, "Need a hand?"

Kida sighs at the mess that was going to be her dinner, and looks up at the man--surface dweller, her mind automatically says. Everyone here is. "Please?"

Soja, for his part, is now cleaning the floor of the food--at least the little shrimp that were part of it. Noodles and squid he doesn't so much care for. "He made me drop it."

Tavi unfolds himself from the booth--all six-feet-several-inches of him--and walks over to her, glancing around. He raises an eyebrow at the nearest waitrat, his expression silently full of 'Oh really? You're supposed to be helping her, you know.'

He eyes the strange creature for a moment before nodding to himself, moving a little towards both her and her pet. "Yes, I saw. Enough of that," he adds to the animal with familiar aggravation. (Good at his act as he is... sometimes the farm boy in him comes out. Pesky pets are one of those triggers.) "There's fish in it for you if you do."

It's a bribe, and he's counting on the animal to understand him... but hey, it's Milliways. Anything could happen.

Bonzo vaguely recognizes Tavi. It's been a while, and Tavi is slightly older...enough to make it take a few moments to process that yes, he does recognize the not-quite-Roman man in the Bar. In Milliways, that's just enough to make him head over to the table to ask if he does.

"Excuse me, sir, but...you look like someone I know."
