The front door opens, to let in one young copper with her arms full of paperwork. She's not entirely surprised to be here - it seems the pub never shows up but when she's not at all ready for it ( Read more... )

X looks up from her own stack of papers, head tilting as she studies the other woman.

Then --

"Hello."

The Security badge on her belt is only half-hidden by the hem of her tank top.

Shaz is, first and foremost, a copper (or a plonk, as most of CID would say). So X's style of dress and direct manner earn her a wary glance, but the badge she knows as well - she's met Belar a couple times now, and he seems a very nice sort of bloke.

"Hi, sorry, am I in the way?" She shifts her stack of files a little further from the piles already going.

"No," X says, shaking her head once.

She makes no move to recollect her own papers. This may be because the stacks are very neat. Precise, even.

And then, after another moment of study (and a slight flaring of nostrils) --

"You are not new. Here."

"No, been here a couple times now. Some of my..." What? Coworkers? Friends? Hrm. "Mates come here. The Guv's even tended bar, once."

And that was an utterly bizarre experience, thanks to the Guv being both from a different time and city than what she knows.

[ooc: If I am not too late?]

He's humming tonight.

Literally. Humming. Though that isn't so far from being a perfect way to describe his current physical state as well, three hours spent with a bottle of spirits for each!

He runs into the Bar, but no one saw that. No, he is the picture of feline grace and mystery as he sits; mystery as he contemplates a goblet of wine; mystery as he leers at the woman not so far from where he sits.

Yes, his thoughts are deeply hidden behind that stoic complexion.

Leering is... not so mysterious. At least not for her. She gets it a lot. She works with the newly promoted DI Carling, after all.

So she flips him a flying V - that, at least, should be a familiar gesture to him as well. And then she orders herself a pint of bitter, because she's earned it at thsi point.

He really thought he had something going there.

"I am afraid I do not understand your meaning, madame."

Perhaps it is something sexy? Perhaps she is indicating she will be with him in two minutes? Perhaps -- dare he hope? -- she means to tell him she has a friend? Two of them?

Must not know or fought too many English army boys - that particular taunt is popular, especially against the French. Of course, in her time, it has a much wider circle of appreciation.

"Sure you don't." She grumbles, giving him a filthy glare. "Keep a lid on it, yeah?"

This is the big, brave, fierce WPC... squeaking. Doberman Pincers are generally used by people who don't want other people getting on to their property, in her when. And they aren't generally nice.

And now one's by her knee. Meep.

This Doberman Pinscher is looking up at her with wide dark eyes, ears laid flat and a whole body wiggle going on.

He likes new people. And someone forgot to tell him he's not a pup anymore. (Well, Captain Ryan did, but then River screwed it all up by baby talking at him, and the narration will shut up now...)

She... has no idea what that is supposed to mean. But she's pretty sure flat ears can't be good. So she caaaaarefully eases down off her stool, away from the dog, her eyes just as wide.

Shouldn't it have a muzzle? Or a leash, at least? This place is beyond mad, sometimes.
