Castiel glances down at himself.

"I attempted to put one of my lessons here to use, and give him ample warning that I was approaching."

If you dig a bit, you may find a small nugget of sarcasm.

Ample warning apparently leads to getting shot and stabbed. It's a good thing neither is effective.

"Oh, I'm so sorry.

"I . . . Dean, um? I . . . I take it that it didn't . . . oh dear."

Castiel sighs a bit.

"There is nothing for which you need to apologize."

After all, that approach is probably good in 95% of cases.

"I did expect a certain amount of...wariness on his part."

A wary hunter is a hunter that is likely to shoot first.

"You are bleeding," X says on her approach.

Then she pauses, head tilting as she studies Castiel a little more carefully.

"You were bleeding."

Beat.

"Your enemy is dead?"

Castiel looks down, plucking a bit a the bloodstained material.

"Not a great deal," he says.

Not as much as a human would, certainly.

"He is not an enemy. And he lives."

X considers that answer, taking a step closer Castiel.

To study him.

"He will not try again? To kill you."

It seems like that might be important.

Maybe.

Castiel thinks a moment.

"I am not certain. He may."

Their meeting hadn't exactly ended with clasped hands and declarations of friendship and loyalty.

"But he cannot damage me."

"There is no need to worry."
