Kate doesn't recognize the older ladies, but the girl gets a smile out of her. She has leather saddlebags slung over her shoulder, full after a trip to Miss Bar for supplies.

"Howdy, Miss Bridgette."

"Oh, hi, Miss Kate!" Bridgette says. "Look, that's the cowboy lady who looks like my mom!"

The other two ladies say hello, indulgently, and the dark-haired one offers Kate a cup of hot chocolate.

The reminder is still slightly awkward for said cowboy lady, whose cheeks color a bit. She tips her hat to the two women in greeting.

"I don't mean t'interrupt..."

"Oh, sit down," says the more colourful of the two women at the table. "We're very glad to meet you."
