Do you know what’s fun? This strange little thing Teller found inside one of the chairs by the fireplace. This thing is a lot of fun.

The various little fuzzy things around the bar like to chase after the beam, which is entertaining for a while.

Even more entertaining is how much the small, green dot seems to annoy other people. Now that is ( Read more... )

Guppy peers at the screen of his laptop, and pokes the strange green dot that's appeared on it.

If Guppy looks closely, he'll even see the laser beam itself -- a faint, green line.

Right now, the dot is wiggling a bit on his screen, almost trying to be as annoying as possible.

Guppy looks down. Not the mouse. Hmm.

He tries changing the resolution. No luck.

The little dot starts dancing in concentric circles around the screen, getting faster and faster as they go.

Urquhart watches the Ostrogoth's cats chase the green point.

He hadn't been aware of cats being so funnily endearing, and he laughs at them, with delight as much as amusement.

Especially the concentrated stripey face of the tabby is priceless!

He laughs out loud at her antics.

Teller's discovered that if you hover the dot on a wall about five feet off the ground, cats will try to leap for it.

He does this, moving the dot a little higher each time.

Why didn't his cat ever do anything playful like this? Instead, it just bit people.

Urquhart laughs out loud again as all three cats keep jumping higher and higher with great energy and determination.

The smallest cat, a grey one, jumps highest and longest.

Teller holds the odd little thing up so that Urquhart can see how to turn it on, and then tosses it to him.

It really is oddly fun.

Would the portly, bespectacled man seated in the booth in the corner make a suitable target for annoyance?

The bespectacled man in the corner booth will very soon find a green dot on the table before him, moving slowly back and forth.

Sometimes, it will move in a few circles.

"Go back to work, Claudia," says Artie without looking up.

The dot stops.

And then starts going in very fast circles.

Ooh, shiny dot! A hovering robot follows the laser pointer's path with great interest.

Oh, hey!

The robot startles Teller, but he gets back with the game fairly quickly, and begins moving the dot around the bar for the robot to chase after.

The dot can move very quickly.

So can the robot. He's still a little clumsy with the hoverthrusters, though. Several patrons might get their chairs jostled and their drinks overturned.

Teller laughs at the display of manic robot.

The dot comes to a wall, and climbs it, before going up into the rafters, where it can easily teleport from one area to another.
