That's not a happy sound. Parker raises an concerned eyebrow.
"Not too bad. Work's being a bit of a pain at the moment, but that's just how it goes."
Parker scoots herself up so that she's sitting rather than lounging, the kittens clinging with tiny claws as she does so. She unhooks the red tabby from her shirt and offers it to Scorpius.
"Here. Hold this kitten and tell Dr. Parker all about it."
Really. One of these days she's going to officially hang out her shingle.

"Hi," he greets when he spots Parker, sounding slightly more subdued than he might normally in the presence of the kittens.
(The kittens do, however, still receive playful scratches behind their ears in greeting.)

The kittens stretch and purr at the attention.
"How's it going?"

"Not bad, but - Well, you know how school can be."
He kneels on the floor so he happens to be eye-level with the kittens, giving them more of that attention they adore.
"How have you been?"
