He had heard the door, and as it could be only Charlie or Demeter, he had, for once, not been alarmed or alert or called out 'Who goes there?': - it would be one of those dearest to him.
He turns his head to kiss Charlie.
"Long day at work. Seems I arrested everybody whose name begins with a 'G'."
Pause. He had arrested Guppy, of all people, which still feels bizarre and surreal. Gene and Gus both had it coming.
"I think that was a very 'modern' thing of me to say," he then adds, and kisses Charlie again.
"It was," he muses idly, combing his fingers through Teja's hair, pulling it back into a ponytail. "You're tired. You should probably take a day off at some point."

"Lonely, honey?" he chuckles, finding the distinct outline of his lover and resting against the back of his chair, mouth close to Teja's ear.
