"Hey, Enzo," Annabelle says with a grin. "Looks like you got another upgrade."

"Teasing?" Annabelle asks with a tilt of her head. Possibly this is what's bothering him?

It's not exactly something that can be kept secret. Enzo grumbles and passes her the README.

It takes a few moments for her to parse the title and get the idea. "Ah," she says with a wince. "It came on suddenly, I'm guessing?" That sounds awful, at least to her.

He nods morosely. "It does, for us. I've actually had more time to get used to it than most sprites. You know, when I'm human..."

"That's something, at least," Annabelle says sympathetically. "I can't imagine having to suddenly deal with all of it in one go."

"It's normal for us. You're supposed to get used to it pretty quickly." His tone of voice suggests he has his doubts.

Annabelle smiles. "You will, although probably not as quickly as you like. At least, if it's anything like what we go through."

"Yeah, well. As long as the other kids lay off, I'll manage."

The hazing does serve that purpose, at least. It makes the experience of puberty itself seem almost pleasant.

"They'll get bored soon enough, or one of them will suddenly find themselves in that particular boat," Annabelle replies with a smirk.

"It's mostly the ones who already have!"

"One of your younger classmates will hit that point soon enough and they'll have a new person to tease, then," she explains. "It's not nice, or fair, but that's often the way it works."

"Yeah," he sighs. Hypocrisy seems to be another multiversal constant.

Annabelle pats Enzo comfortingly on the shoulder. "Cheer up, sport. It won't be strange and awkward forever."

Enzo smiles weakly at her. "I know, but it feels like..."

He stops, freshly embarrassed. For just a moment, his voice sounded Auto-Tuned.
