The door flies open and a pony-sized metal horse with several bundles of supplies and gleaming metal strapped to its sides gallops through. Hot on its tail, with the kind of wild-eyed expression and heaving shoulders that bespeaks serious desperation, is Ellen, her long leather coat flapping over her black body armor. Behind her is Dogmeat, ( Read more... )

Red would be happy to.

He's sitting at a table when the exciting entrance catches his attention, and he heads right over.

Standing over Ellen, he uses one hand to help her hold the door closed, and the other to smash bug legs.

"I'm. Callin'. Terminex."

Each word is punctuated by a punch.

Oooh, that's gonna be messy. I mean, bugs splatter under that kind of pressure, you know? Still, better splatter than the alternative, and so after a few minutes the door slams all the way shut and Ellen can lean back and catch her breath.

"Thank you," she says after a moment. "There was a whole nest of them after us when we killed the queen..."

It is messy, but Red's used to messy.

After the doors closed he starts wiping off muck from his hand and his coat.

"No problem. Things like that always get tetchy when you squish their leader."

Ellen grimaces as the rats chitter at her for making a mess. "At least this bunch didn't breathe fire," she says, "but they were still nasty. That's what we get for trying to take shelter for the night somewhere we wouldn't be seen. The ants took over an old car factory in Virginia."

Ellen?

Ellen! Hoffman's first response is to leap up and go for...a gun that's not there. Hokay. So we move to shove against the door.

"Hang on-"

Ellen's pack is strapped to the metal horse, which leaves her back free for other things. Like the fuel tank part of the Shishekbab.

We hope you don't have a problem with fire, Mark, because Ellen is hacking at the ant legs with a crude but effective homemade flaming sword.

Mark's brain goes into cop mode. He doesn't flinch from the fire, backing up appropriately. At some point, he's going to ask if Ellen has any knight of the round table in her cause damn.

He hesitates before putting his shoulder to it and shoving against the wood. he played football way back when, the man can be a doorstop when he wants to be.

Between the hacking and slashing and burning and shoving, the ants finally retreat and Mark gets the door shut. Ellen stands there panting for a bit before deactivating the flame and sticking the sword back on her belt.

There are still ant legs twitching on the floor. Dogmeat picks one up and runs off with it. NOM NOM NOM!
