Oh, that's not looking good.

"Scheisse. Vot happened?" asks the Medic, who'd just crept in for a bit of reading time out of the way of his usual colleagues. He grabs a chair and adds "Sit. Sit und zen you can tell me, ja?"

"Surgical anaesthesia is a very useful sing indeed," the Medic agrees as he works. "Und a relatively recent vun, at least so far as reliable, safe compounds go. Not zat I can't perform a reasonable surgery wissout it but it makes a procedure significantly easier if mein patient isn't flopping around like some sort of angry fish or shouting in my ear about ze pain."

"Well, it did sting a bit," Cata admits, "but even my pain tolerance only lasts so long. I would have done my best not to shout in your ear, though."

"Which automatically puts you ahead of three-quarters of my team," says the Medic dryly. "Alzough in all fairness Herr Heavy doesn't so much shout as bite down on his belt und slap ze table hard enough to make it shake. Distracting enough, in its own way, but zere are worse sings he could be doing... I should be done shortly, I am making ze stitches as carefully as I can to minimise scarring und speed muscle recovery for you."

"I can only imagine." She's seen the Medic's world in full swing, after all.
"Thank you. I'd think it'll still take some time, though?"

"Ja, unfortunately," says the Medic. "If ze kritzkrieger were more cooperative outside ze field of combat I'd recommend it, but for now it's going to have to be ordinary healing, I'm afraid. I'm sorry."

This isn't a man who apologizes often, but he's talking to Cata, after all.

"Oh, it's quite all right. I dare say this is better than I would have been able to get at home."
There are probably those who would call it cheating, but Cata's not one to care about that.

"I do my best," says the Medic, not particularly modestly. Modesty is for other people. "I sink- ah, zere, finished- you are going to haf to be careful about ze arm, of course, but you should be able to move more properly now..."

She gives it a try - gingerly, not daring to raise her arm over he head just yet - and smiles a bit. "Much better. Of course, nearly anything's an improvement over having a knife in it. Thank you."

"You're quite welcome. I haf put a dressing on it, which you should leave until tomorrow," the Medic says. "Tomorrow it may be changed, und zen we go over how best to take care of ze site until I haf to remove ze stitches, all right?"

"All right." He can at least rest assured that Cata will take better care of her injury than, say, the Scout would.
"For now, though, I think I need to eat something."
