[OOM:

Team Hunt 1 - Murderin' Bastard 0

Man of the Match: Sam Tyler]

Gene is in an extremely good mood when he finds himself in Milliways today. Another nutjob behind bars, another skirt saved from certain death (not that the mouthy cow'll be grateful but he doesn't expect miracles) and his new DI showed he actually knows how to catch a criminal. ( Read more... )

At the bar, there's already a man Gene would call a 'nutjob'. And worse things.

Drinking beer, and watching football on the bar TV. Like a regular bloke.

He's wearing an anachronistic hat, too.

Gene would definitely call him a nutjob if he knew about his reaction to kids; at the moment he has Urquhart firmly in the 'murderin' bastard' category.

'Who's winnin'?'

He'd not noticed Urquhart when he walked up to the bar, his focus distracted by the alien notion of a TV in a pub. But now he's standing next to him, he's not going to slink away.

"Germany are," Urquhart says, sipping his beer.

At least the man isn't frothing at the mouth any more.

"Want a beer?"

'No. Not off you.'

He orders a Scotch, drinks it and then orders a pint as he squints up at the TV.

'Uraguay? Wha's the competition?'

Ace agrees with the sentiment (it being beer o clock, not the bit of skirt, or about the DI, alas... or about the beer. She likes mudslides), having put in a few interesting hours (or days, depends on how you look at it) happily taking away weapons from those what aren't using them fairly.

And yeah, when we say 'taking away', we mean 'blowing up'. It's more fun that way.

Satisfied with a good day(s) work, the pyro and her lanky Doberman (who is, honestly, starting to get on in years) find their own place at the Bar, looking for a reward for good behavior.

Right now, a few years in the future and to the south of Hunt's given where and when, there are policemen having fits and they don't know why. Ace just grins, and reminds herself to send some 'Get Well Soon' cards to the poor plods.

"Yeah, that'd be brill. How's things shakin' then? Should I be feelin' sorry for someone?" Ace asks, taking in his general good mood.

Magic the Doberman just looks hopeful. Sometimes new people give her treats before Ace can tell them not to.

'Nope. Unless you're the type to feel sorry for nutjob murderin' bastards.'

Which he doesn't think she is.

'Wha' you 'avin'?'

He does check his pockets for something for the dog but only comes up with a pack of Juicy Fruit. Even he knows better than to give a dog chewing gum.

Fiona is in an equally good mood, for entirely different reasons. She's just come back from her run, ear buds draped around her neck and a fine sheen of sweat still clinging to her skin. Gene probably hasn't seen a modern woman in a white wifebeater and running shorts before.

She plops into a bar stool, breath still returning to normal. "Bar, can I get a peach protein shake? Thanks. Oh hey. You came back."

No, he hasn't but he's certainly not complaining.

'Yeah. Few times now.'

He's not at all subtle about checking her over. She is a bit small for his tastes but still nice to look at.

She sighs, takes a long sip of her shake, and then gives him a look.

"By choice or by happy accident?"

He pulls a 'so-so' kind of face.

'I don' mind most'a the time. Except the time the door disappeared, tha' pissed me off a bit.'

He drains half his pint and adds,

'You look 'appy.'
