Duck's been snoring slightly on a table in the middle of the room, head pillowed on a piece of paper, when -

do you have the resolve, little duck?- she wakes up with a start, shaking her head to get the last wisps of weird half-memory out of her head

"You're writing," observes Cameron.

It's so lucky for Duck that Cameron is here to point these things out!

"If so," Cameron continues, placidly, "then would that difficulty make easy ballets even greater than difficult ones?"

[reallyaduck]

"I don't know whether it's easier to choreograph easy steps or hard steps," Duck confesses, after a beat.

"I mean, I've never really choreographed for someone else or anything . . . and when I'm just making up my own stuff, I only know what I can do . . ."

"But if you only include easy steps in a dance, that's a limitation," Cameron says. "If you choreograph a difficult dance, you can use both easy and difficult steps. Isn't that true? So an easy dance must be special."

[reallyaduck]

"M-maybe," Duck says, flustered.

Audiences like seeing hard dances better, but - then again, aren't you supposed to be dancing for yourself, more than for the audience?

More confident: "Maybe! That's like - how some partners can make you look amazing even if you're really terrible, because they're so good that it looks easy anyways . . . and you end up really having fun with it!"

"Yes," Cameron agrees.

After a moment, she adds: "You like to dance."

[reallyaduck]

"Yeah! I mean it's hard sometimes, but -"

Duck stretches her arms up over her head in an imperfect arch, and then looks up at Cameron, with a grin.

"But it's really fun anyway!"

Cameron watches her, and then raises her arms in a similarly imperfect arch.

"Have you danced Swan Lake?"

[reallyaduck]

"Me? No way!" Duck says, with a vigorous shake of her head.

"I couldn't dance any parts except maaaaaybe some of the really really easy parts in the beginning when it's just the prince's birthday and everyone's doing kind of normal dances. But the parts with the swans and all, you gotta be really advanced for that!"
