Cal was - busy on Christmas Day back home, what with Bela visiting and their distracting each other from the emptiness the holiday holds for them both. And so it is that, when he finds himself in Milliways on the twenty-sixth, the headline on the New York Times Bar provides with his raktajino catches him by surprise.

"Evening."

Sam wanders in post-sword practice, ruffling Cal's hair in an absent-minded sort of way as he heads for a sofa to sprawl on.

Cal looks up from the article he's reading, then gathers up paper and coffee and follows Sam to a couch.

"I think my new world is kinda weird," he says.

"Sounds about what I've head from Jack, Trixie and Ianto," Sam agrees, draping a casual arm around him.

Cal holds up the paper by way of demonstration, undeterred.

There's even a picture.

"Hey, Cal! What's processing?"

Something interesting, from the look on his face.

"Hi, Enzo," Cal says. "Not much. Well."

He shows Enzo the paper.

...okaaaaaay.

"Titanic? Wasn't that that big boat that sank?"

"Yup," Cal says. "Only that was, uh - a regular boat. This one was apparently a spaceship."

This is one of the major questions in the article; no Earth organization has come forward to claim it, perhaps for obvious reasons.

Hey, it's that other guy called Chandler.

Chandler Bing walks up to him, and is about to say something full of sarcastic wit, when he's distracted by the newspaper.

"Am I gonna have to be watching out for this kind of thing in the near future?" he asks nervously.

"Nah, I think you'll be all right," Cal says, a little too distracted to remember that he's politely ignoring his own knowledge about Chandler's world. Because something like this would definitely have gotten a mention in an episode, if not spawned an entire wacky subplot.

"Oh," Chandler says. "If you're sure, then I'll have to take your word for it."

Hey, it could be part of the alternate reality subplot, for all either of them know.

"This happen on your timeline, then?"

"Uh. Well," Cal says, realizing. "Not that I'm any authority on your world or anything. Just, you know. Chances are."

He glances back at the paper and nods. "Yeah, yesterday. Christmas. I guess it's a trend." The article includes convenient little recaps of the previous couple of Christmases, which Cal is not sorry he missed.
