Melpomene's on a nearby stool with a drink, which is nothing new.

She gives him a nod, from the other side of her brandy-colored glass.

Ben looks up from the gift basket he just received from Sunshine courtesy of Bar, and returns the nod.

"Evenin', miss."

"Good evening," she says, just loudly enough.

His lips quirk in a half-smile.

"Tell me you're not the type to make a man beg you to break bread with him," he says, nodding toward the abundance of pastries at his elbow.

The box earns second and third looks, and he gives her a smile when she takes a seat.

"Evenin', Miss Elle. You been practicin' out back?"

"Bein' well-rounded's never a bad thing, in my experience."

He nudges over a basket filled with pastries (and he'll be sure to thank Miss Sunshine for the unexpected gift) in case she's hungry.

"How's your shootin'?"

There may or may not be a partner-in-crime sidling up next to him, propping herself up on the counter.

Or maybe just lounging across it.

He may be smirking.

Outright.

"I believe I owe you a drink, Sassafras."

"I'd say you do at that," she answers.

She may be choosing this moment to look all too pleased with herself, too.

He gives the bartop a gentle pat, and before he can ask, an orange cocktail appears, loaded with fresh fruit.

" -- well, I reckon I just made good on that."

Kida smiles at Ben, accepting the glass that appears in front of her. (The Bar has good memory for the rather...unasked-for things she usually drinks, it appears.)

"You look cheerful."

Smug as smug can be, "Probably because I am."
