Diana, with a dirt-streaked face and clothes but clean hands (a clear advantage of wearing the gloves tucked into her back pocket), passes by his table on her way to the bar.
At that same moment a waitrat with a heavily laden tray is moving in the opposite direction, reeling from a brief brush with another patron.
The two do not collide, largely because Diana moves very quickly to get out of the way.
This may or may not involve a judicious use of flight.
Arnold has friends (from the bar and otherwise) who can fly...this does not, however, prevent him from gaping at Diana's epic maneuver, nor does it stop him from uttering an impressed "woah".
Mia hasn't talked to Arnold in...well, ages! Clearly, this must change.
"Hey Arnold!" Mia calls from her own table, currently covered in paperwork. Her weekend away is over and it's time to get back to the daily grind while she still can.
She could probably use a cereal break, though. And sooner or later, the baby's gonna remind her that they're both hungry.
Bah! She's moving papers as they speak to make room for cereal tastiness! She's left now with a far neater stack and only a couple of papers that she's actively looking at. Besides, she could always try Reparo if they get damaged.
"Busy, but I could use a break. It's not like I'll be losing time here, after all, and teachers need them, too. Come on over; it's been too long since we've talked."

"Hi, Mia! How's it going?"
He would move his cereal to her table if it wasn't covered in paper. That's just an accident waiting to happen.

"Are you grading papers?" Teachers are a fascinating subject for any student, after all.

"Hey, Arnold. What's processing?"

"Hey, Enzo, not much. What've you been up to lately?"

"Exams." He sits down heavily. "At least History's done with."
