Nikola approaches the bar today, relaxed and arrogant as usual. "A bottle of wine, please, my dear. Something with...bite."

He smiles as a bottle of mourvedre and a glass appear. "Thank you."

If you need him, he'll be on one of the couches by the fire, steadily drinking that entire bottle.

This coming from the leggy blonde stretched out over another couch.

"Then again, there could be worse ways. As a doctor, I had to point out the obvious repercussions."

Nikola smiles over the rim of his glass at her. "My liver is in excellent condition, thank you. Nice haircut."

"It's growing on me," she admits, self-consciously touching the peach fuzz.

"No pun intended."

Cancer - and chemo, admittedly, does have some more noticeable side-effects.

"You pull it off quite gracefully, my dear." He has a substantial sip from his glass. "How is that going for you?"

Dorian happens to already be by that fire, sipping a glass of brandy in a comfortable chair. He has a book open, face down, on his thigh, as the fire seems to have captured most of his attention.

Nikola smirks over his glass at the picture Dorian makes. "Fascinating read?"

Dorian blinks a couple of times and turns his head, an amused smile curving his lips as he stares at Nikola.

"Oh, quite," he murmurs. "Terribly engrossing."

"I'm given to understand that osmosis is not the most effective way of absorbing text," he says dryly, still smirking.

There is a princess--seriously--on one of the other chairs, drinking Atlantean. Not because she has a death wish, or wants to show off.

It's actually just what she's used to drinking. What you get for being an Atlantean princess. As she drinks, she's reading out of an old book--for the first time since she can remember that she's been able to read anything off a written page.

Nikola watches her curiously. Not because of the Atlantean--he's partaken of that himself on occasion--mostly because of the hair. He's always interested in anything inhuman.

She is human. Just...really really old. In the neighborhood of like, nine thousand. Blame her canon, it's what we do.

After a few minutes she looks up at him, moderately curious.

In Nikola's world, she'd be labeled an Abnormal, and that's enough for him.

When she looks up, he meets her gaze and smiles, raising his glass to her in greeting.
