Whiff.

So. Sari signed up for the baseball game in the middle of the month.

Whiff.

Thing is, she's never actually played baseball except in video-game form. So, obviously, she needs to practice.

"Need some help?" she asks the woman who seems to be having some trouble.

Sari's not a 'woman' by any stretch of the imagination. She's eight years old and so scrawny that she could be mistaken for a yardstick with pigtails.

Val returns the look but bites back the angry reply. "If I had to say, I would guess that you are trying to play baseball. But with all the different cultures that come here, you could just as easily be doing some sort of rain dance."

As if realizing her words might still be harsh, she continues with a friendly smile, "I could pitch the ball to you if you would like?"

"Just a sec," The boy's running back into the bar..and coming out again with a brand-new t-ball stand. "They probably make it look easy cause they've practiced for years to get that good."
