Amanda is running around the lake.

"Need some help?" she asks the woman who seems to be having some trouble.

Sari's not a 'woman' by any stretch of the imagination. She's eight years old and so scrawny that she could be mistaken for a yardstick with pigtails.

"...maybe?"

Amanda walks over to the girl. "I'm Amanda" she offers with a kind smile.

"I'm Sari." A beat. "That's my name. S-A-R-I."

Val watches for a swing or two before she has to ask, "Are you playing baseball?"

Sari gives her a Look. "What's it look like I'm doing?"

[val_von_doom]

Val returns the look but bites back the angry reply. "If I had to say, I would guess that you are trying to play baseball. But with all the different cultures that come here, you could just as easily be doing some sort of rain dance."

As if realizing her words might still be harsh, she continues with a friendly smile, "I could pitch the ball to you if you would like?"

"Wouldja please? I gotta practice for the big game..."

...For a minute, a small boy in all blue clothes watches her practicing, before coming over.

"...you want some help?"

[im_so_sari]

"Yes," she says vehemently, sagging a little on the spot. "The Tigers make it look so easy..."

[tyler_marlocke]

"Just a sec," The boy's running back into the bar..and coming out again with a brand-new t-ball stand. "They probably make it look easy cause they've practiced for years to get that good."

"I don't wanna use a T-ball stand!" says Sari sourly. "That's for babies!"
